Since I last posted in this thread, $9k in Ikes searched, 4 40%, 2 FEV, 34 '72 T2 including numerous uncirculated examples, 3 '73's, 19 '76 T1's, and 7 proofs.

I don't care if I am not finding much silver, each one of those T2's is worth at least $35-$40 each. Some of the MS ones should easily break the $100 barrier. I'd much rather have those than an ASE or common-date Morgan/Peace.

How do you order Ikes? If you just go to your bank and ask is this a normal type of request, or are there some hoops you'd have to jump through?

I haven't had any problems ordering them from my regular bank. I've had a standing order for $1000 bags every week for the past 3 Months. This is the same bank I regularly get my Halves also.

You may find it difficult if you don't have a relationship already established with your bank. My suggestion would be to just ask your regular bank and see what they say. The worst that can happen is they say no. Then you can try to open an account with another bank in town and ask them.

I have found it difficult to order from Credit Unions. Not impossible, but they seem to be very reluctant.

Good luck.

I work at a bank that uses Brinks, and I've actually had to order the money for the week, and they won't even offer a Large Dollar coin bag or box....just the small dollars or halves. Their online ordering service sheets don't even list them. :/ I wish!! Because I could just have the head teller order them, check them, and send them bank without tying up my money! :)

bradsbrewer, I remember others confirm that the the ordering sheet does not list the Ike dollars. Your head teller would simply need to call brinks and see if they have any available. You may be right about them not having any but you won't/can't know that unless you contact them.

When you search bags are there marks Ikes in them? And how are you getting rid of the coins?

OO, yeah, upon reading your input, I had her call... they told her that they couldn't get her any. They wouldn't say whether that meant they didn't have them or they just didn't want to send them. Oh well. I guess I can't complain much since I get to go through all the other coins we get!

I haven't found any Ikes that were "marked". Not in the way you will find halves. Most of my bags contain about 20% to 25% nice AU to BU coins. There are always some that look like they were rolling around the counting machine to long. The edges are really chewed up. The obverse and reverse may be AU/BU but the edges look horrible.

Because most, if not all of my Ikes have come from Brinks, I look for banks that are not serviced by Brinks. I have sold them on ebay also. For the most part, the ebay route does not pay very well but I can almost guarantee those Ikes will not end up in my next bag. I have even pain the house payment with them.

I didn't receive last weeks bag of Ikes because the vault teller was out sick and forgot to remind someone to order them. This wasn't a problem because I had plenty of honey do's to finish around the house. But I just received a message that the bag of Ikes from last weeks order will be waiting for me along with my regular weekly bag. I hope the list of honey do's is short this weekend. I don't know if I can go through $2000 in a single weekend. Here's to late nights and Diet Coke.

I also need to find the time to dump about $900 in Nickels.
