Well, I scored big today on my $500 of halves- 11 Walkers, a Franklin, 6 40%s, an 85-S Proof and another 2006-D. A great week . The Walkers included an AG 19-S, Good 20-D, 23-S, 27-S, 28-S, 29-D, 29-S and Fine 34, 36, 37 and 39-S. The Franklin is a 57-D. Hopefully, this will continue next week! ~Jim

Went through 50 rolls on brand new 2007 APEC $1s....1000 coins (Australia). I kept about 40 choice uncirculated. There was not one error in the whole lot I also completed a search of $100 2006 50 cents pieces. Kept 6. Again no errors. I have $120 of 5 cent 2006 rolls to check out. I hope that I find some keepers amongst those.

I am on cloud 9 - last night I called to find "Poker half dollars," so I called mu local CU, and they found 2 branches that had more than 200 dollars worth of halves. So, today I went to the closest one. They had $610 worth, but luckily, today was payday. They brought out these huge 20 dollar rolls, and I am thinking "whoa - oldies" + 4 small rolls cause I tested the waters 1st w 300 dollar invest. Well, the big rolls weren't great, but they gave me 2 proofs, and 82 and 83. I look at one of the small rolls - solid 40%. Next one - solid 40%. turns out all 4 are full of 40's and a lone 64. Go back in, but the remaining 310 - had two more solid rolls, one w/ 9 90%'s. All these good rolls had the same wrapper. Also got some kids rejects, but gave up on those. So, grand total was 113 40's, 10 90's, and 2 proofs. It was awesome. Updated my totals - can't wait to see what the other branch has. Now that's what I am talking about!

I picked up 3 boxes of halves yesterday. When I was picking them up, I asked the teller if he had any others sitting around. He had about 10. One of them was a 68. I thought I was off to a good start. $1500 later, I had found a 1971S (which I already have two of).
Thats it.
Another day another half dollar....

When searching through half dollars and coming across some 40%ers or 90%ers, what do you do with them? Keep them and stack them? What happens when you get 10, 20, 50 of the same year? I'm curious because I'm trying to take a more active approach to collecting, not just looking through pocket change anymore. I'm definitely interested in collecting half dollars and am just curious what you all do with your stack of 40/90%ers ... how am I supposed to get any

I'm by no means a veteran, but I've been trying to two months now to put together a set of the halves, this is the first coin I've ever tried to collect. I get a box every week from the bank, and I keep anything that appears BU or is a proof or silver. I just stack the silvers in a small box for now. I've been watching ebay, and you can get about $1.50 per 40%,a nd about $4-5 on the 90%. I figure that's a decent return for buying them at face so I keep all of them. I guess it's considered hoarding, but I think of it as investing in silver and physically holding my investment.

I keep all of my 90%. The 40% I save up for a while and then trade with my dealer for coins that I want. I also get a buck or two each for impaired proofs. The ones I find usually are not real nice, so that's OK with me. Today's $500 box gave me two Franklins (59-D and 63-D), two 64s and 5 40%s. No Walkers this week, but any silver I can find is good. I think silver is a very good investment right now, especially when you can grab it for face value with a little work . ~Jim

Went through 580 dollars worth of halves between yesterday and today. About 90% were one CRH's rejects (which I knew cause they had writing on the side and they all had the same date of being turned in) but in the roughly 40 dollars that weren't I found 4 40%ers - not too shabby.

Well, got my 100 worth of halves from work today, and... got 43 40's, 2 JFK 90's, and a 2005-P. Over a 20% keeper rate is truly astounding - makes me wish I'd ordered $1000+.

I just had a wonderful experience at my new bank. I cleaned the entire bank out of Halfs! Granted it was only $42 worth but being my first time ever doing this I found 4 40% Silver and a 1972S Proof.
They are gonna start holding Half's for me when customers cash them in. Gotta love that Southern Hospitality!

Well done graceoutcast! Hearing what people do and what they pull is interesting! I still need to pick up an album before purchasing any to look through. Since I'll only be looking through change and not buying graded pieces, what does everybody suggest, a dansco for the high quality look, or a whitman since it costs 1/10th of a dansco?
