I posted this above, but it more properly belongs in this thread Hi All, Like a lot of others here, I have a lot of fun in getting rolls of coins and hunting through them. I have found a few nice errors and have plugged some holes in the little whitman books - just having fun in general. I have been doing a lot of pennies lately because I have had better luck finding errors in them than other denominations, although dimes have been a close second , so I went to a local credit union yesterday and in a $25.00 box of pennies I found 15 solid rolls of wheat cents! They ranged from 1916 on up and many of them are pretty well circulated, but just finding that many at once was a thrill. Just had to share with folks who would understand. - Tony

Yeah, I think it takes a special breed to understand such treasures. My g/f gets a kick everytime I come home w/ a roll of coins b/c she knows how wound up I get when that silver half slips out. :)

I've had the same experience when I came across about 20 rolls of Canadian George the VI cents, and a complete year set of Canadian 5 cents from 1922 on in two rolls of nickels. I attribute these to a collector passing on and the relatives rolling up the collection and cashing them in for face value. I have also come across hoards of silver quarters and dimes this way. It sure makes your day.

Where does everyone have luck in finding rolls of 1/2 dollars? I can pick up 1 or 2 coins only at a time. And of late I've had a few bank tellers say sorry, not going to sell those to you. Had that happen to me yesterday. The lady gives me 2 of the 3 half dollar coins. The third I'm sure was an older silver coin and she laughed saying that isn't for sale. I got a little ticked since it is in plain sight in her drawer.
I did buy $70 in quarters. Didn't really find anything other than a colorado D quarter for a friends father who was missing that for his collection. I have found 5 quarters that look to have been part of a proof or silver proof type set. Really high gloss on them.
I'll keep calling around. Going to be heading to Florida in the morning. Maybe I can stop at some of the small banks own way down.

if they don't have any for you, ask them to order them for you. At my bank, you have to order in increments of $500.

I got 2 rolls of dimes today. Got nothing in the first one. But the second turned out to be a roll of Philly uncirculated 2007 dimes. I put that into a plastic holder.

My $500 box of halves was not very exciting this week. I got an 87-P, 87-S Proof and a 2003-D. No silver, but there's always next week! ~Jim

I too have been getting Kennedy rolls...trying to finish up my set! Seems like they are harder and harder to come by.

Today, I went to a local bank, bought $230 in halves, and got 32 40%'s. Then, I went to work, and bought my $200 worth of halves - and boy was it good. Percentage wise it was a tad lower, but I got 59 40%'s, 1 90% JFK, and my first Ben - a 61-d! Plus, I got a 2006-d in pretty decent shape. So, all told, I got 94 keepers today. Like I said - definatly a great day!

dang madman, you're gonna make me cry. How do you only buy/order less than $500 worth? Do they order a box and then just give you whatever you requested? That is a heckuva percentage, I think you need to share :) Nice job!

I do the change orders at work (or sometimes I have the underlings do it, lol) because I am the customer service manager - I always slip a few halves into the order. Being a manager has its perks. I am sure, theoretically, I could order anywhere from 10-10000 really, but I don't like to tie up that much of my income (plus work might get a bit suspicious) - 100-600 a week, at most.
