Just went through $800 worth of half dollars. No proofs, silver, no nothing. This isn't a good start! :( Ty

Can you imagine how many rolls he had to go through?

I just went through 10 rolls of nickels and 10 rolls of pennies. Found the following: Pennies: 6-older than 1963 no wheats 1-1995 that I going to take to my local shop to look at...it looks DDO on the LIBERTY to me when I compared to other 1995s I have. 2- 1970's Canadian pennies 1-Beautiful almost proof like 2007 1-Beautiful almost proof like 1991 Nickels: 1939 1947 1956 1958 1963 Canadian nickel with a beaver on it Not too shabby.

TY. I know at times how you feel, however the day you hit that lucky roll search with great finds just makes it that much more special. Always keep searching there out there just waiting for you or me to find them.
Bruce.

I went through 50$ in halves yesterday, I filled or upgraded 6 spots, found a 67 and 2 68 40% silver, 9 with some type of Mechanical Doubling, I know it's common, but it will help with spotting the good type later, nd I got a 72 and 73 no F and a 77 with a very very faint fg.

I enjoy hunting coin rolls for error coins and I have found a few. I have been mostly searching pennies because most folks seem to ignore them and errors seem to stay in circulation more than other coins that I have searched. I have found a nice Cud and a nice lamination peel and a bunch of assorted die chips, cracks etc. But I'd like to find some off center strikes, multiple strikes, etc. I figure that the kind of errors that I'd like to find just won't make it into a coin roll because the coin is deformed. So, I guess that what I really need is to start looking through bags of pennies. My question is - how do you go about getting a bag of pennies, is there an additional charge for them above the $50 cost of the pennies themselves and is that a worthwhile approach? I know - that was really three questions :) - Tony

I picked up two rolls of John Adams dollars and have searched through one. I found what I think to be two errors containing additional lettering on the edge, a possible die crack in Liberty's face, and 7 with off center lettering around the edge. Now all I need is a better magnifying glass, some 2x2's, some good pictures (yeah, I'm a newbie), and to find some smooth edge Adams' and I'll be set!

The US Mint does not bag coins anymore for general release. All coins leaving the Mint are in Ballistic Bags attached to a forklift pallet. Each Ballistic Bag contains several hundred thousand coins. These bags are sent to the armored carriers for rolling and delivery to banks. This is why the "real errors" have been very difficult to find since 2001. http://www.coinworld.com/news/022601/news-3.asp

i just got back from the bank, didn't have my halves, they'll be in later today, but they did have $88 in Eisenhowers!!!!! My first score w/ those. No silvers that I could see, but I've yet to find a bank w/ these so I feel like I hit the jackpot!

I took a break from nickels this week and got a box of pennies. Box was in immaculate shape, so of course when I get home and open it, I find $25 worth of unc pennies! LOL. Found someone that wanted 5 rolls, but I guess the rest I'll introduce into circulation when I pick up the next box of pennies. It's a shame, too, as the last two boxes of nickels weren't that good.

This weekend my daughter and I went through 12 rolls of nickels and she is now only missing 7 coins to fill the 1962-1995 nickels. 1996 to current she only needs 2 the 2004D keel boat and 2005D oceanview. Friday night the folders were empty. We also found these: 1941,(2)1948, 1946,1956,1960 Canadian and a Somlian 5 shilling piece. Later this week I'm going to my bank to pick-up the box of nickels and 2 boxes of pennies I ordered. If I had this much luck with just 12 rolls of nickels, can hardly wait to look through 50 rolls.

Probably aren't doing anything wrong - sometimes there just is not much to be found, or you are getting a lot of someone else's rejects. Case in point - last 4 orders were great, today I got skunked on 150 b/c they were someone's rejects. Just the way it is sometimes, really.

$50 in dimes, just for the heck of it. Still looking for that elusive 1970. Didn't find it, but I did find a 1968 silver, and an Eastern Caribbean Group 10c, which was new for me.
