I coin roll hunt every chance I get. I usually do pennies and halves when I can find them.

I got $70 in customer-rolled halves on Wed. and had 1 40% silver (68D). However, many of the other coins were in great shape- had 5 82P or 82D which are among the lowest mintages of JFKs. In my experience, these two, along with 78, 78D and 79D are the toughest to find. From 1964 to 2001 there are 65 different coins released for circulation- I got only 35 of them in my $70. Very heavy on 71, 71D, 74, 74D, 76, 76D (accounted for 64 coins out of 140).

I recently went through $30 in nickels and found 11 keepers ranging from '39 - '54 and a Canadian nickel from 1985. I also went through $150 in halves and got nada! So far in my halves search (approx. $500) I have only found one proof and no silver. I thought it would be easy to find some silver but was wrong and need to revise my strategy...

Another box of pennies gone. Pulled about 10 wheats, nothing great. Got a couple old canadians, 1947's. Also found a neat Bahama cent, 1981.

New to coin hunting but must say its like Christmas when you open your rolls and start searching! Went to commerce bank today and just bought $100 box of nickels. I am starting to search. They all look newly wrapped so who knows if I will find anything. I will keep you updated! Also...

Do you usually have to get your bank to order halves in for you? How much is a good amount to get that isn't too big of a hassel? I dont want the people at the bank too hate me! haha

I searched through 2000 nickles in the last few hours... here is a little of what I found...
2 1939 (I believe one is a double die but I need to see a picture to make sure..)
3 War Nickles (2 1942 and one 1945)
A 1990 P with NO 'FIVE CENTS' on the back... you can barely see the F and the S but then it flattens out too smooth... has anyone else heard of this error or know how much this coin might be worth?

Numerous 1950, and other 1940's... going to start with halves soon!

I was on my way to the bank to pick up some halves yesterday when a man asked if I could make change for the parking meter. I assumed he had a dollar bill so I dug out 4 quarters. All he needed however was fifty cents, since it was a Kennedy half he wanted to change! His coin was a common clad date, but still, it was a strange coincidence!

Perhaps that was a good omen, since my bank score included several 1964 and 1964-D coins, a few silver-clads, plus one each of 2003-P and 2006-P halves.

Hello, I Thought I would share my latest half dollar box of $500, it had its ordinary and its bit of strangness. Found 2 - 64P , 1 - 64D,
2 - 67 , 2 - 68.... My first proof, a 76S, was exciting to finally find one. Now for the strange part, in past boxes of halves, I had found the occasional 2002 to present NIFC half dollar, nice to fill a spot in my collection for cost,,,, but with this box , 126 NIFC halves!! 80 - '05D, 6 - '04D, 7 - '04P, 9 - '03D, 8 - 02D, 6 - '02P
Was not what I expected, any ideas of how or why? Now what, do they have any premium to auction, or just dump back into circulation, not the silver and proof of course. Take care

I have in the past 3 days gone through 660 coins..
2 - 90's Franklin 53 and 61
7 - 40 's
1 - Proof 1979S
And one gold plated 1981...

I am lucky the bank next door to me carries halves in the vault and according to the teller has plenty and I don't need to do a special order. I gave him a small gift certificate for being so kind and grabbing them for me yesterday and he gave me his card and told me to just call before I come in so he can run to the safe and I won't have to wait. Can't wait to get more!

Finished my box of halves. Got skunked silver wise but filled in a few holes. I also found 12 2006 halves from both mints. Worth keeping?

I've got $1000 of brand new 2006 Australian $1 rolls and $60 of 10 cent pieces. I'll have my work cut out searching for Unc errors on the weekend. The 2006 $1s have been particularly kind to me. I've previously found a couple of spectacular strike throughs and nearly 200 of the 'rabbit' errors. Here's hoping for more.
