Numi 63, Choice is yours but I would stay away from the 40%, right now melt on them is $2.47 each but around here noone will give more than $1.50 for them. If they are in a pawn shop my guess is he probly paid $1 apiece for them. Melt on the 64's is $6.05 and you can actually sell them when you have enough of them, you won't get melt selling them but alot closer then with 40%. I have gotten alot of silver CRH but have only sold 40%ers as there are more of them, 90%'s are rare in boxes and makes ME feel like I work too hard to sell them. I don't sell locally for obvious reasons- even with the hassle of shipping it pays better. Hope this helps, Mark

ME CO - Thanks for the help. Valuable info you shared there.

If I can get him to let go of the '64's for $5 each I'll probably get them. At the very least I'll have some to add to the sets I'm building for my two kids. I know I may eventually find some in CRH but then again I may never find any this way. I've been through a few hundred so far and I found my only ten 40%ers in the first $150 or so. I got really excited in the beggining and now it's getting a little dissapointing. I did find my second War Nickel while roll searching today though! WooooHoooo!

I know it may not be that big of a deal to some of you but it was quite a thrill for me. I saw it as soon as I dumped out the roll. It was in the very first roll out of 17 rolls. I'm glad I was alone because I giggled like a little school girl-teeheehee! Oh yeah, it was a 1943P. Very cool. I also got a bunch more nickels to go toward my 38-62 Jefferson set (the '43 being the oldest found). Also found my third Canadian nickel. My favorite CR's to search are by far the halves and then the nickels. Won't be long until I get my first full box of nickels. At just $100 per box who could resist ?

Mark- thanks also for that link. Haven't checked it out yet but I will do so in short order.

That 64 JFK is selling right at silver value right now. My coin dealer will pay you $5.44 for it right now. Silver is pretty high right now $16.74 oz. I would not buy, but then all the '64s I have I paid 50¢ each.

Silver closed at $17.11 today, so War Nickels have $0.96 worth of silver, 90% halves have $6.19 worth of silver, and 40% halves $2.53...not bad!

How-Many-Are-Into-Coin-Roll-Hunting?

Just picked up 30 rolls of pennies and found these 2 wheaties on the end of their rolls. They were a 1949D and a 1940. Well as I am now off to a good start I can't wait to get through the other rolls.

I bought 50 bucks worth nickels from bank. I found one 1942 d, and 1958 my book needed . I bought 50 bucks worth pennys and have not started those yet. I dont know yet on pennys.

You guys talking about silver halfs again and silver going up to over 16 bucks per ounce. I need quit playing with low value junk like nickels and pennys like I been doing. I guess I need try ordor another 6 boxes of half dollars again to search again.

I wish I could find system where I can do 6 boxes or more on halfs each week becides onley doing 12 boxes last monlth on those. My first ordor was 10 boxes and secord bank would onley ordor two boxes last monlth. I want half dollars big time. Any ideas on geting them all time becides little at time since the bank need ordor them all time I need wait one week or more on them. They all non stocking bank items.

I spread mine out, I have to as I have limited funds for searching. Talk to the head teller, tell them you would like to pick up 2 boxes a week. Then go to another branch and do the same. Caution, My CU has a quota of halves for all branches combined, I have 3 branches getting ME 2 boxes a week. January for some reason I hit their limit and they had to get the quota raised again. It takes time to get a system working and then once it is you may have to tweek it some. Them chocolate coins help too. HH Mark

I am new to this sight and excited to hear from others. I began collecting coins, again, about 6 years ago and currently working on filling coin books for pennies, nickles, dimes & quarters. Occasionally I would but coin rolls for poker night and discovered missing dates in the rolls. I never new it had a name or some many people use this process to hunt for old coins. Some of the banks I go to are reluctant to sell the rolled coins.
Any suggestions on to use this process better.
Thanks for the help
