Dropped $133.50 in halves on Sears, Roebuck, & Co paying my credit card bill. I guess condemned means something different that I thought. I expected to see the store torn down by now instead of open and emptier than usual. $5,070.50 to go

First, the report on the last three weeks since my last post on how many Half Dollar coins given in change - 48 rolls or $480. But also we received $17 in small dollar coins and those were used to pay bills as well, so the total I circulated was $497. But also, I was thrilled that for the first time I got an uncirculated 1964P Kennedy half dollar in one of the rolls. Now that I will keep for my small coin collection! $4569 to go

Quote: Sears, Roebuck, & Co paying my credit card bill The hero has returned, Jack is back ladies and gentleman, Jack'ys back in town... When the shark bites, after midnight, you know it Jack with halves! Ok, maybe not the best rendition of Mack the Knife there is, but congrats of being able to pay your bill without having to drive a few hours to find another place.

Maybe you should give a prize to the one who spends the last dollar. Just a suggestion.

jack jeckel, just wondering: when you say " Borrowed $15 in halves to a coworker", do you mean you Loaned or Sold? because that phrasing I haven't heard before.

Quote: just wondering: when you say "Borrowed $15 in halves to a coworker", do you mean you Loaned or Sold? because that phrasing I haven't heard before. Back when we were kids growing up in the hood my parents would "loan" or "borrow" cash to the woman living next door alone who had 4 kids until welfare check day so she could buy "groceries" for her kids. Then come the 1st or 15th she would pay my parents back with food stamps. I'll leave the rest of the try to help the less fortunate out til they "take advantage of your generosity and rob you blind" story out as this is a family forum. The mechanic at work has a "substance abuse" problem and likewise is bad at managing a big flat rate / commission based paycheck vs. a slow times / small paycheck as he is always broke 3 days later no matter how much the paycheck was. He also has a problem showing up for work on time when we open which I have tried to find a coworker to bet with as to what time he shows up for work. While some people with a "real" job with an official company handbook and printed rules to weed out slacker employees may try to compare this to the Bumfights videos I will gladly trade places with your for a job with structure. Anywho it seems over the years I have become the inhouse "title loan" lender for those down on their luck. Everyone gets one chance. I loan you money, you pay me back when you say you will, we are cool for next time. You don't pay me back on time then the next time you come with some collateral and interest. For some unknown reason I even have truck drivers who deliver freight to us at work asking to borrow money from me because they see the bags of halves waiting to be dumped next to my desk when they come in for a delivery signature. So far "Bob" the truck driver is still on free good terms which can't be said for the 5 previous coworkers who took my generosity for weakness. No loan sharking going on but after Cooter burned the bridge after the first "sure I can help you out while you are down til payday loan" and the next time you tell him no until he says "I'll give you $20 on Friday for $10 today" who am I to pass. Everyone gets one time free and after that well you name the terms. So back to the point Cooter (AKA the mechanic from the Dukes of Hazzard) and above named person with money management problems hits me up every couple of weeks to borrow money til payday so he can go to the liquor store or street pharmacist and I am 100% sure that said coins get spent and not "saved for retirement". There is one hiker for Penske Truck rentals who comes by 3 or 4 times a month depending on how many trucks they bring in to us who "exchanges" his cash for my halves and Ikes I have sitting around that he saves. I don't count those. I'll edit with the pawn store rules sign above my desk at work tomorrow.
