Perhaps now is a good time to point all ebay sellers here to include some form of note to their ebay buyers to check out the CCF auction section!

If PCGS or NGC had anything to do with this (which I want clearly state I've not seen any evidence to indicate) I think it's just a matter of time before they run afoul of antitrust regulators. There is already evidence of collusion between the two companies (such as only crossing over the other's coins) which smacks of trying to squeeze out smaller competitors.

Someone mentioned SEGS, are they on par with IGC? I thought SEGS was another basement slabber.

SEGS is not part of the "big 3" but, they did have excellent variety attribution as well as very durable holders. No, not basement slabbers but also don't know if they are still around. Anyone know? Just answered my own question :-) http://www.segsgrading.com/One more thing I don't get. With consultants like Bill Fivaz and Larry Briggs, why doesn't ebay allow SEGS. Unbelievable.

ebay are probably going to get a law suit from ANACS, because investors/speculators that bought ANACS graded coins from TV campaigns is going to suit ANACS, imagine how these investors/speculators will react once this can of worms open up. First reaction would be I just loss almost everything?

I think this needs a wait and see how it goes for a little while (month or two). ANACS should be included in the TPG ebay allows, the rest I'm okay with being dumped, ICG was a top tier/second tier company at one time, IMO not any more, they were sold to National Gold Exchange, which then filed for Bankruptcy (NGE not ICG) as far as I know the new NGE, The Phoenix Gold Corporation stills owns them. ICG is more known as the "Shop at home" grading company of choice now.

SEGS should not be confused with SGS which is a basement slabber. SEGS actually has several big-name authors and variety specialists on staff- Bill Fivaz is co-author of the Cherrypicker's Guide, Jeff Oxman is a top VAMmer, JR Grellman wrote the definitive reference for late-date large cents, and Brian Greer has written and contributed to several books on Seated Liberty coinage. They can be a bit enthusiastic on modern grading but classic stuff is usually pretty solid.

I've got two Morgans in SEGS holders and they are spot on in my opinion. It's really a nice holder also.

Quite frankly, I'd want nothing more than to dump ebay but what other venues are there? It's a choice to use their services and they know they have us by the ears.

I highly doubt ANACS or ICG have any chance of winning a lawsuit right now. ebay will probably lay out their guidelines on what they consider to be a reputable dealer, and if these companies adhere to their guidelines they will be accepted as a reputable dealer. If they choose not to, they won't. The purpose of what ebay is doing is to eliminate fake coins and forged slabs, as of right now how can I verify a coin online that was slabbed by ANACS or ICG? This will HOPEFULLY force ANACS and ICG to make some changes to their operations and website, which will only help everyone.

Hi guys since a moderator asked us to condense the two current threads on this topic I will repost my reply from the other thread to here. " ebay has no vested interest in trying to say 1 company is better than another. Its in their interest to get as many as possible on there as they make their money through volume and bulk sales. With that said ANACS is not on there for a 1 simple reason, unlike PCGS/NGC you cannot go to the ANACS and verify that the code on the holder is indeed a legitimate coin from their pop report. As soon as ANACS allows verification on their website you will see them added to the list. If some reputable dealer came to ebay with an impressive set like the penny actions they just had I'm sure they would promote that and sell them. This has nothing to do with ebay trying to "squeeze" anyone out of the market and everything to do with them trying to reduce fraud and only have legitimate coins sold on the site. Frankly I like the effort on there part, a quick search of the coin listings on ebay and it becomes quite obvious they need to crack down on what can and cannot be said/listed ect. For those that really cannot wait and just want to buy ANACS coins, you can still buy or sell them on ebay. You just cannot advertise them by their grade and the coins are basically considered raw, which as a buyer will probably get you a better price overall. Thats just my Two Cents on the issue. I think if theres anything we should be upset about its the fees they charge to sell something on ebay and how they also charge a percentage of the shipping fee as well" To sum it up basically I dont think ebay is making any assessment of what type of grading ANACS does, its more or less that only NGC and PCGS allow buyers to confirm the coin is authentic on their website in an effort to reduce fraud. IS ANACS and IGC add that ability to their websites I am sure we will see them added to the list of acceptable graders with NGC and PCGS. ebay certainly isn't perfect, but I do appreciate their efforts to make sure that coins listed are as advertised

Yeah but most fake slabs right now ARE PCGS and NGC not ANACS. ICG, they can go bye-bye, not too worried about losing them.
