A strike if real is REALLY weak. I like B's strike and have a peace that looks like B's. Who knows, let us know!

The lettering in example 'A' doesn't look right to me, with the 'OF' on the reverse being the most noticeable. Therefore I will vote B as real and A as fake. Very interesting post whatever the outcome is.

Here's another clue. The A coin is on the left.

This makes me lean harder to the position that they're both fake. A genuine Peace dollar's reeding ratio is roughly 1:1.75 (1 width of depression, 1.75 widths of boss). A's reeds are off as there's flash between them and they're they wrong ratio (~1:3). I wouldn't be surprised if there was an area where the reeds overlap. B's reeds do not sit on the rim properly and the ratio is ~1:1 (unless it's a trick of the light; an edge-on photo would be better). That plus the fact that the strike is so far off in various places, I'd hazard to guess that it's probably made of copper with silver plating. This is why it's going to be the one that's within Weight Tolerance where A is at ~17 grams. As always, in-hand it's easy to tell. I'm itching to see if my observations from photos are correct. :-)

Wow this is a great discussion! Ill throw my opinion out there Weight of a REAL Peace dollar is 26.73 grams. Larry said that one weighed 26.73, and 17.2. The side by side pic shows A much thinner than B, so logic would dictate that B is REAL because its bigger and therefore would weigh more than A. This is assuming that one is real, and one is fake. So my conclusion is B is REAL and A is FAKE

Here is the last clue. I wanted to get a closeup of the A coin. So I attached it to my rare earth magnet so I could get the light just right. I believe the B coin is real. if not I wasted a few bucks on it. I've had fun with this, I hope every one else has. If I get 10 or more requests I'll send the B coin the next time I get coins graded and let y'all know the results.

I am far from being an expert, but I would have to say B is the real one. The front face line profile on coin A looks different, and the date is touching the rim. The rim at that area also looks too wide. The strike on coin A looks to be too weak. If these two coins were offered to me for sale I would only consider coin B.

Count me in for a request to send it in! :-)
Or if you want, send it my way and I'll test it pro bono as this has become a matter of blatant and unrelenting curiosity for me. :-)

Very good discussion dudes! We should do this more often. Really interesting too! I for one would love to see what the TPGs think of coin B

I'll send both A & B coins to Steve.
After he reviews them He can keep coin A.
When B coin is returned I'll ship it off to PCGS.
