Hello
I just received these coins and have my doubts as to their authenticity. The 1892 Hong Kong Twenty Cents seems to be the most genuine looking, but even that I'm not sure. Also, the one cent seems to be a clear fake - why would someone go to the trouble of making a counterfeit one cent coin?

Thanks for any help :)

Nice looking fakes, if they are fake?

What make you think these are fakes? weight? strikes? Wrong alloy?

Well, the one cent is supposed to be bronze, but it looks the same colour as the "silver" coins in those scans.

If they all came from the same source I'd be rightfully distrusting of them all.

Top right coin looks (the most) terrible. Lots of what looks like intentional wear.

yeah it's the One Cent being silver coloured that made me suspicious. The black on the top left coin will easily come off. I don't have any genuine versions of these coins to compare to, nor do I have a scales to weigh them...so for now I suppose I will have to assume they are all fakes :(

I have a Hong Kong 1935 800 fine silver ten cents.
Mine is a fake.
Problem is that all of the issued coins for that date are copper nickel. It has the same ring tone as the Victorian 1901 ten cent coin that sits next to it in my collection, and it also shares the same bright silver colour of the 1901 coin

However, the 1935 coin has the characteristic dullness of detail that is associated with fake coins, although it is sharper in detail than the coins pictured here.

domtreff: I have the same problem as yourself:
Why on Earth would you bother to make a fake coin in good silver, when the real Mc Coy is only made of copper nickel alloy?
