In regards to O Canada subscription: Just Wondering if any one knows if I'm allowed to pay for the subscription all at once instead of 1 payment ever month for 1 year? Also from past experiences and a lot of speculation what do you think the resale of this completed set will be in Dec/Jan 2013? What do you think they will sell for as a complete set with box? Any one have past experiences selling complete NCLT subscriptions/sets? Thanks for sharing your knowledge much appreciated.

I personally wouldn't buy the subscription to try and make a profit, to high of a mintage in my opinion.

Stand by 'Prana' as I consult my crystal ball.

Usually there is one or two of the subscriptions that become collectible - ie go up dramatically in the 2ndary market. Otherwise, I wouldn't count on using it to fund either your child's education - or your own retirement.

If you like it, collect it. If you're doing it on speculation of flipping for a profit - better chances in Vegas.

As for the full payment - I'm sure they'll accept your money, but that won't get you the coins any earlier than their subscription release dates.

In my (limited) experience, sets sell at a discount to individual coins. Your buyer pool is smaller due to the higher cost and buyers expect bigger discounts for larger purchases. With respect to NCLTs in general, my experience is that the majority sell for less than issue price after a few years. Picking a winner (like the glass ladybug) is kind of like a lottery ticket; there will be a winner, it just won't be yours. My advice is not to buy NCLTs for 'investment' reasons. Buy them for their beauty, for their history, for their significance to you personally etc. If you (or your kids) manage to get your money back on it some day you'll be ahead of most.

Agree with Rockdaddy

Except this, only as assumption - it could be that all coins will be available as not part of subscription, for the same price , except the colorized maple leaf.

As Coin Chick mentioned previously - the complete set could be very nice, but expensive present for Canadian or from Canadian.

In this case there's a difference: well, The Case. Subscribers will have nice presentation box. Box itself is worth something, take a look at Group of 7.

Thanks for the reply and opinions. The reason I would pay all at once is to up my purchase total to become an MC member Thus saving almost $100 on shipping costs alone for the set. I do personally like the set a lot from what I have seen, and figured if I could re sell for $50.00 profit in one year that would be great, and extra bullion ounce for free essentially, but it sounds like peoples experiences is that it is not likely to make that profit. Thanks

...and already marked up!

I'm getting tired of these distributors making some extra profit.

But none of the latest releases should command a premium one day...

NOT TRUE. There has been no mark up on these coins yet at gatewest. Although there is a limit of 1 on each.

Beg to differ...
Gatewest have been selling RCM releases some 10% below official RCM prices for pretty much all releases in the past. Since the Farewell to the Penny set they have been listing coins on their website at RCM prices or above. Even if they sell them at RCM prices, this constitutes a mark-up.

You expect a business to sell to customers at their wholesale purchase price?!
