Shipping will begin at the end of January!

My order stated end of December. Could they be minting them by dates, or by denomination?.............

Darryldarryl, where did you get that shipping will begin at the end of January? Are you just making a best guess based on previous track record? If that's the case, end of February may be a safer guess.

My order stated end of December, also.
But experience suggests that It could be shipped much later than that.

Yeah - More money than brains. I went all in for the 1914 $5 @ $500. Got the Alberta advantage @ $25 GST.

On spec, called to see if I could order the $875 one. They must have had a "meltdown" already. They're closed with 2 hours remaining on their tel service. Recording is of their summer hours saying they are closed. Mint staff probably running around half nakey out at how much commish they did on this one .

Now just wondering if the one I bought online will arrive before I die. I'm not sick or anything so...

@darryldarryl

I see your point, since the EFA was holding the coins in a vault.

My point was that there are going to be less available compared to the mintage numbers but considering the sale today there are in fact more available to the consumer.

Is anyone else thinking that the mint may have all kinds of coins stored away? This is the second time this year that the mint has released old coins. The first being the silver dollars and now this. Do they have others?

@Redzapsid,
Possible. (Although these coins weren't at the mint, but rather at the Bank of Canada.)
It's pretty hard to imagine a more significant Government coin hoardage, than this one of gold gathered as a result of WWI.

There are 30,000 coins being sold by the Mint but 18,0000 of them are the $10 dollar ones. They have 5000 in total of the 1912, 1913, 1914 $5 gold coins. But there is no breakdown of the amounts for each year.

@jerry_b,
I realize that it wasn't the mint that stored them but they are the ones selling them. What I meant was, has anyone heard of other coins being stored that will end up being sold?

I was busy at work today and couldn't place an order for the premiums.
After an hour wait on the phone to order them I was told they were sold out.

Now trying to order 1 of each $5 online. Website giving me grief.

I sure hope these coins look as fabulous in hand as they do online.

@moneypenney,
If there's 30,000 and 18,000 are $10 coins and 5000 are $5 does that mean the rest are sold in the 6 coin sets?

Broke down and ordered a 'hand selected' 1914 $5 coin. darn Mint web site was slow as all-get-out, but finally got through it all. Would have ordered it through my MC rep, but unfortunately he was not around at 5:30 PM when I finally for to read the Mint announcement.

@Coin Chick
Good luck with your order. I'll bet their web servers are very strained.
I ordered just one of the 1912 $5 coins this afternoon.
Yes, I hope they look good. Their selection criteria is anyone's guess.

BTW, I have seen your postings under the Coin Display topic. Beautiful stuff - very inspiring!

The website is running slow and it's not accepting my security number. It finally spit me an email confirmation saying I've bought the items but kept telling me to re enter my security number. I'll confirm tomorrow with another 1 hour wait on the phone.

Thanks. I change it up once in a while. Trying to get my Xmas coins out and I keep getting called into work, and I have to go in order to fund my coin addiction. Lol.
