Money penny/ panda,

there is definitely difference in opinion between the NCLT collectors and the decimal collectors. I would definitely purchase tripoli's ms-63 1914 $5 for more money compared to anything that is offered on ebay right now. The quality of the coin is the more important factor to look for rather than the hologram or origin. For the best of both worlds, ICCS should grade without removing coin from capsule and thus everything remain intact

For me here in the US ICCS is out of the question. Not a recognized grading agency on eBay/US.

The ICCS grading system look amateurish with its typewritten card and soft sleeve.

Has there been a direct comparison between a ICCS garded coin and a PCGS graded coin as to which sold for more money?

So far it is anecdotal evidence where some people will say they pay more for a ICCS graded coin. But do facts bear that out?

OK, while it is a different year, it is still a $10 gold reserve coin.
Do you guys see a grading difference between the two coins? Both are MS-63.

I was told to buy ICCS coins because they generally grade harder than PCGS. That is their MS 63 coin has the same grade but may grade a MS64 by PCGS. Therefore you get a better coin for a lower price!

i'd rather my money don't go towards plastic coffins for coins and a grading system subject to going higher when you appeal and resubmit a coin (PCGS is known for doing that)
ICCS IMO is still small enough to do good honest work.

Doesn't mean you can't buy and sell an ICCS graded coin on eBay/US though right? All it takes is a google search for potential buyers find out about the difference. Unless you mean that ebay USA has a policy against ICCS graded coins being listed as graded, but I don't see that as the case.

I have no intention of submitting my coins to be graded and displayed in a filmsy plastic envelope with typewritten letters. Since I am not planning to sell my gold coins, I will keep them the way they came. They look great in the capsules with hologram stickers and the black clamshell with COA.

Time will tell if ICCS graded gold hoard coins will be more valauble than PCGS graded ones.

If your the only one with the original RCM packaging it may end up being more valuable than being graded!

Non-graded gold coins from the Mint hoard can sell for more than graded ones.

Here is a 1912 $5 Gold ICCS MS-62 coins that sold for $525.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1912-Canada...em51aae77135

Here is a 1912 $5 Gold coin from the Mint that sold for $800.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canada-1912...em460df1008f

Another reason not to submit my gold coins for grading.

Coins already graded are GRADED coins! Which mean no chance of get a higher grade/condition coin, that's why coins in original packaging tend to go for the price of the average grade or slightly higher.

If you are not intending to sell the coin, don't bother with grading (extra cost for what, the packaging is not nicer either).
If you consider/thinking that you may/want to sell then you have to evaluate your option. Is your coin better looking than the average coins out there (most of the gold hoard coins are MS62-63 any ways, PHS coins are MS63-MS64 most of the time)? If it's above average then it may worth the fees and effort to send in for grading. If it's not then don't waste your money on the extra fee (pay $50+ to get the coin back in MS62 is a waste of money, in my opinion).

Just my quick thought.

MCM is one of the biggest US dealers. From the coins they are selling, I dont think they could cherry pick any coins. Look at the ungraded 1914, I am glad mine dont look like that

I bought a new scanner today that does a better job at representing the brilliant golden luster. My previous scanner sorta washed out the images.

They have 2 1914 $5 coins on the page - the first and the last, but in the picture it is the same coin.
Looks bad.

I still wait for the 1914 HS $5 from the Nov 29, 2012 (when the same 1914 HS $5 from the Feb arrived), and something tells me, that the coin that I'll get may look similar (to the MCM coins)
