Is his claim that he has the only 1914 $5 MS-64 feasible?

With only ~500 of 22,000 coins graded on an issue that was not widely circulated, his claim might be a little suspect. But if you can get $35k for it, do it.

$35,000 is about out of the question for me. I was hesitant about spending $565 from the RCM when it came out for re-issue, and can't justify paying anymore than that. Plus a $35,000 coin would end up costing me over $100,000 after paying the divorce lawyer.

Maybe solo highest graded by ICCS, but PCGS has graded 64 1914 $5 in MS 64, and another 3 in MS 65

Take a look back at the Jan. or Feb. Heritage sale of the 1914 5 dollar pgcs ms 65, probably the best 65 graded, good pictures sold for around 10500.00. The ms 65 at recent Torex had marks and Gatewest is selling the other pgcs ms 65 for around 12,000.00

I seem to have the only certified 1914 MS 64 5.00 gold on ebay right now...I originally sold this coin in the RCM box but it was returned to me because of foil damage!.....So I sent it to NGC They dont seem to come into the market very often in the really high grades..The cert MS 64 population is around 135 pcs right now ....As I have the only one for sale I have upped my price to 7700.00 firm....not bad for a coin that was in in a damaged holder!

You definitely had a great experience with these. I had one customer take the plunge and went deep. When we saw his premium hand selects, we couldn't reasonably justify giving them any better than a high AU.

I'm really starting to wonder if I should get my 1914 $5 graded, since some are selling for 1000s of dollars. It looks pretty good to me but no experience grading.

man this looks like a nice coin... too bad it's in a sleeve now! :( I'd much prefer a raw one to go with the other 5 coins...

Is there any chance that this thread / topic have it's name changed, Nov 28th has come and gone and is coming again. Could it be renamed something like " RCM makes historical release of gold coin horde" or something like that?
