Thanks for trying shopaholic! I guess we need one of the moderators to make the change. Will somebody step up and post an obscenity in order to their attention.

we should keep trying to have the name change..if you search for this forum thread chances are page 1 wont come up on the first page of the results. I just tried Bank of Canada gold release and page 1 didnt show up on the first page of the results.......... so we have page 1 of the most important thread on this issue not even making the top 10 or so in the search engine
there must be some way we can find the person in charge of this area of the CCF
im going to start a new thread entitled WHERE ARE THE MODERATORS WHEN YOU NEED THEM! maybe that will get their attention

I'm very puzzled as to why this thread was moved suddenly and without consultation to this forum from the Canadian Commemoratives and Non-Circulating Coinage (NCLT) forum where it has existed since November 23, 2012. It contains 178 pages of posts made almost entirely by the members who post regularly (and/or primarily) on the NCLT forum. If this had been a problem why has it never been mentioned before. What's more the special release of the Bank of Canada Hoard was made by the Royal Canadian Mint primarily to allow regular folks, NCLT collectors and others to have an opportunity to collect these coins. Quote:Struck 100 years ago, and sealed for more than 75 years in the vaults at the Bank of Canada, a rare collection of the first ever gold coins bearing a Canadian symbol have now returned home to the Royal Canadian Mint.
Now, one century after having produced Canada's First Gold Coins, the Royal Canadian Mint is pleased to help the Government of Canada make these unique coins available to Canadians, and collectors world-wide. Please see here: http://www.mint.ca/store/product/19...0&lang=en_CAI would ask the Moderators to please kindly return this thread to the NCLT forum where it was created and participated in for the last 21 months. Thanks in advance! Respectfully submitted by NuMoosematist

The thread is now where it belongs. The forum should strive to be a credible reference for collectors, subjects should be in an organized fashion. That the B of C chose the RCM to market these coins is a moot point, they are circulation coins.

If these coins are for circulation, the thread stays here. If they are NCLT, it would go back. This community does not revolve around one particular forum. Quote: im guessing this thread is the biggest thread in Canada coins section and possibly the whole CCF ..... Not even close.

http://www.mint.ca/store/news/a-nat....U-uaPYZzaM8This is a tough one. Even though they were produced for circulation 100 years ago, these particular coins were never in circulation. In 2012, they were sold as uncirculated items through the RCM's numismatics distribution channels as opposed to the banking system, they had limited release numbers (30k total coins) and they were essentially NCLT. Like most NCLT, no one is ever going to use them as $5 or $10 currency. They are distinguished between the circulated coins by special packaging including a holographic seal on the capsule and a COA. I can't think of any other 'circulation coin' that was distributed in a capsule with a COA from the RCM. That alone makes them more NCLT than circulation to me. That said, I'm not sure it really matters where the thread resides; though it seemed fine where it was for nearly 2 years. It really is old news.

Which US forum are the GSA coins discussed in? That should hopefully make it an easy choice.

GSA dollars go in the US Classic Coins forum. However, keep in mind that there is no equivalent "NCLT" forum for the US. The US Commemoratives forum is less diverse. The GSA dollars were minted and intended to circulate. When they were sold does not matter. That being said, you are correct, that makes it easy. The thread stays here.

Quote: ...The thread stays here. Upon deep reflection jbuck, I don't really think it matters very much in which forum the thread resides. As CC-Ottawa has said: "...It really is old news..." I hope folks interested in the BOC hoard will find the information posted here informative. I just wish that the change was handled in a more respectful manner. Also, I was very used to finding this thread on the NCLT forum, and now when I want to see all those fabulous gold coins, I don't know where to look. (It's my age you know.)
