Hello again Community! I have another ancient coin I would like identified please. I need to know all I can about it, including what's on both sides, when and where it was minted, condition, and a value, if possible. Thank you so much!

Obv: IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate, draped bust right.

ancientcoinguy: Thank you so much for the information. I have 1 question though; what is the RIC 213 supposed to mean? Thank you!

Hi Uscoins,

Nice coin! As a conservative estimate I would say your coin is worth $40-60 maybe a tad bit more.

RIC = Roman Imperial Coinage, it is a volume of 10 books referencing the Imperial coinage. For example, your coin is referenced as #213 in RIC volume 5, i.e. RIC V 213

Cheers,

-Kurt

Its a nice one - I see you've already got the ID, but if you didnt know how to ID them already, you should learn - you'll get a lot from it.

The main resource I use is Wildwinds. You can find pages with long lists of all coins of an emperor (well, most, theres a lot of varieties they dont list). Look at the coin - this one reads IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, which means 'The Emperor Claudius - Caesar - Augustus' - well, mixed about a bit. The late design style tells you its Claudius II. Then go to the page and search a bit based on the reverse design.
