The status of my order for this coin subscription just changed to "shipped". Looking forward to receiving it. I would prefer that they send the box with the first coin too.
To me, it would make more sense that they send the box with the first coin, but have a charge for it if you cancel the subscription before purchasing their minimal number of coins.
That way it would discourage those just ordering the series to cancel and get a free box and keep those of us that want the entire subscription happy and give us a place to display the coins as each one arrives.

Believe me, the mint does not loose any money on the box if you purchase just one coin. What they are trying to prevent is people flipping the boxes for a profit, like the group of seven boxes selling for $200.00. They could just make a off size capsule that only the set coins fit in the box making box useless for any other application. This box will perfectly fit 1oz bullion.

Quote: If you only want the box, send the coin back. Keep the subscription. Here is what I think and know from past experience... If the box come with the first coin, you at least need to keep the first coin, since the coin and the box will be ONE item on the invoice, you cannot return part of an item and request a refund. Similarly, now the box come with the second coin, which means you have already received the first coin over 30 days (so no refund/return on the first coin), and you cannot return the 2nd coin UNLESS you return the box with the 2nd coin since they will be ONE item on the invoice. Which means you will have to pay for the first two coins in order to own the box. I just checked my invoice for the Go7 first coin and box, they are ONE item on the invoice. So I highly recommend those who order this series thinking they can pay 90$ for a coin and the box, please check with the Mint to be sure your plan still work.

Got the Beaver yesterday, the coin is great! This is exactly what I expected, when started NCLT Wildlife collection two years ago (that expanded to many other areas).
Will agree with Dooby Rak - Mint could do the capsules in unique size. In other hand, this will make the production more expensive.
Mint just should give and option: to purchase just single coin, or purchase it with box, while charging additional money for the box. Why not? Just to sell the box, with possibility to buy it later as accessory. The profit will be for both sides - no free boxes, but it allways will be available as standalone product.

You can get a multi cavity tool made for around $10,000. If you make as series of 5 coins in limited mintage, 8,500 coins, the cost per coin for tooling becomes 24 cents a coin. The plastic and manufacturing cost is around 10 cents with overhead and transport. That's 34 cents per coin. Easily done. Don't forget the tooling can be reused and they are already making of size coins like the arctic fox (40mm). If the series was 40mm, I don't think any other coin could use the box.

Quote: Special features: • Each series offers a free wooden collector's box upon purchase of 2nd coin • You can cancel your subscription at any time with no obligation. The collector case will be yours to keep with our compliments. They added the second coin part. I don't remember that originally. Either way, we keep the box. "The collector case will be yours to keep with our compliments." So if I send back the first and second coins, I keep the box. I sure would hate for the Mint to be committing fraud and tricking people.

Fraud requires proof of intent. The mint is not tricking anyone. If anything, it's just the opposite. It's the disingenuous spirit of committing to purchase 5 coins knowing that the intent is to cancel that commitment in order to collect a 'free' box to sell for a profit or use it for some other purpose. Yes, technically it's just finding a loophole but that doesn't make it right. I guess some of these same people go out for dinner, eat half, send it back and then refuse to pay. Free meal. Good deal.

True, the problem is their working: "Each series offers a free wooden collector's box upon purchase of 2nd coin" & "You can cancel your subscription at any time with no obligation."
The intent is you must buy the second coin to get the box, the meaning is you can get the box even if you cancel the order without getting even one coin; "any time with no obligation".
What they should have said is "You must buy at least two coins to receive the free box, but you can cancel the subscription any time with no obligation."
Is there intent for fraud? No. Are the condition stupid and the wording confusing? Yes.
Like I said they added that second coin part after I ordered the coin. Not Fair Play.

Do you actually think if you cancel the first 2 coins you get to keep the box?

Tough question. The answer is obviously no. But the working is ambiguous. It only requires the purchase of the second coin, not the first coins. In the case of the F15 subscription they worded it differently. You must buy at least 3 coins:
" • Protect and display all 15 coins in an attractive wooden collector's box, yours at no extra charge upon purchase of your third coin in this collection"

so hypothetically if the series was not sold out, and you subscribed after the second coin release would you just get the second coin and the case, or would you get the first, and second coin with the case..?

I mentioned before that I noticed some big improvement to the obverse side of the 1oz Beaver. Following photo is a quick comparison. On the left is the 1oz Beaver, on the right is the 1oz Go7 Toronto Street Winter Morning coin. There is visibly higher contrast and more detail on the Queen's face.
