Quote: Hey dude keep it cool down. Don't need to yell at people just asking a single question. Like many of us that collect the $20 for $20 and now $100 for $100, Dcadon is tired of people bringing the same non-issue up. I get irritated when people asked me if my bumble bee coin or other numismatic coins have milk spots. It just seems like everytime there's a new $20/4/$20 release, there's alway folks asking if the bank would take it at face value. It get tiresome after a while.

I'll say this way:
If you want to sell something (the TV), ask for the cash, and not for "Legal tender" numismatic item. Maybe you want to have 10 of them - then "yes".

at the same time this is a forum and people can ask what they want. If there's a topic that tires you, feel free to ignore it and move on. be the bigger man and move on and let people that don't mind answering that question answer it.
with regards to the TV, i'd ask for the cash and not the coins. while it says $100 on it, there certainly isn't $100 of silver in them.

At face value, I'll take NCLTs over cash all day... With COA of course...

Anyone hear about when/if the next $100 for $100 will be released? Hope the year of the horse theme comes into play. Would like to see Horses in motion.

I think horses would be a welcomed coin.

This is a dead series IMHO. I had 3 bought to sit on, and I could have easily tripled my $300 in the time I have held them. I then bought two more for face value in a big deal along with $400 worth of $20 for $20 coins, all at face value. I know why dealers hate these coins now, the public wants them for face value, and as such, there is virtually no way to make money off them. I featured them today at the market, devoting one entire display case to them, and I didn't even get a SNIFF of an offer.
I will be moving all of mine for $25/ea in bulk and staying away from them going forward.

Who told you're gonna become rich buying them?

I had no plans to get rich, what gave you that impression? But when you take the 2011 coin of the year, (The Canoe), and list it at a reasonable $32, and it sits there drawing no interest, there is an inherent problem with the series. The mint is selling this to people as a no lose lottery, not a coin collection.|
As such, as a dealer, it is VERY hard to convince people that my margins are fair due to the scarcity of the 3 early coins, and the fact that maintaining stock costs money. Now, I got them all for face value, plus there was other stuff in the deal, so I am fine either way. But once these are gone, they are gone. I abstained from ordering the whale coin, which I originally had plans to order 100 of.
People expect to get them for $22-$23, which is an absurdly low 10% margin. Most of them, I am charging the post office rate of $25 for, and I still can't move them.

Quote: scarcity of the 3 early coins The 200k plus mintage of the 20/20 is too high to be considered scarce by anyone's definition. It's mostly simple supply and demand at play here though the marketing of an exchange of a 20$ note for a 20$ coin probably has some effect. At 50k, the 100/100 have a slim chance to appreciate over time but not much. IMO, these coins are comparable to nickel dollars - worth FV but not much more. Of course, the contrast is the inherent Ag content which could help in the very long term. I doubt the series is 'dead', it's just not the quick flip some of you were expecting. The good news you is that you can at least get your investment back and not suffer a loss.
