Thanks, oih82w8. This experience has been fun for me thus far. I think I already mentioned this, but my only real disappointment will be if the Washington quarter comes back as AT. I REALLY want that toning to be natural/authentic. The suspense is getting to me, but I still love the anticipation!

Not a long wait for me....I just now found this thread and read the entire thing. Although I was hoping I was going to click on page 5 and see all of the final results...lol...Now I wait :)

I just checked the NGC website, and my order status has changed to "Grading/Quality Control". Woohoo. Finally, some progress. :-)

I also have a few coins in the ngc system right now, on the Early bird tier though. It went through "grading" in less than a day, but has been stuck on "quality control" for two days now. Very annoying, since it's only after QC you can see the grades online
and I agree with everyone else...I hate the wait!

Not being that familiar with NGC, what does the Total Value of 331.5 mean?

Darth Morgan You are getting closer, I have been seeing coins setting in QC for 2 to 4 days lately. Those were early bird coins, not sure if Lower tier coins will take longer.
I hope you get some good grades

GR- I read in a recent Coin World magazine that submissions to TPG's increase significantly in the fall. That may have something to do with the Early Bird delays.

...and all of the Major Coin Shows; Chicago a couple weeks ago, Philadelphia last week, Long Beach this week, etc... Quote: That's the total declared value of the 5 coins I submitted. And a big DUH! on the Value. Must have been the omission of the Dollar Sign.

I received this e-mail from NGC this morning regarding the 1889 Morgan: It's $50 coin. Should I sacrifice getting this coin conserved and encapsulated as an example for others to see? Someone might want to see an account of the actual process. I'm a little annoyed at myself right now. I should have been more careful picking that one out. I just thought it was light toning.

Ok, I just spoke with NGC, and they said that only the conservation fee would apply since the coin is already there. The fee is $20-25 minimum or 1% of the total value. Since there is a declared value of only $50 on the coin the minimum charge should apply. I figured this was worth it since the residue will be removed to prevent further harm, and it will be encapsulated. Plus, it's a learning experience. But make no mistake. I will be more careful next time. I will be calling on the experts here again for sure. AND I'll have better photos too.
