The RCM could care less about counterfeits. The plated coins are illegal as they are altered. No more no less. They can be used to defraud. I have reported auctions on every ebay platform (including China) with the result being the item was removed.

This is a really sad comment, given the amount of money spent monthly on their releases, by loyal customers. This problem has me deeply concerned, as my hope is that my collection would stay close to issue price. Especially if something ever came up, and I needed to raise money.
I struggle with the choice to buy new Nclt coins. On one hand by buying from the mint, your guaranteed of a non counterfeit coin. Yet, what's the point if the $100 coin is only going to be worth $10-$20. Might as well buy bullion from a reputable dealer.
I buy Nclt because of the artwork and the hopes it won't lose much value. Counterfeit coins is as big a threat to collecting, just as robbery is! Only difference everyone knows to take precautions, even a new collector will. However, is a new collector going to know how prevalent fakes are in his new hobby, and it's just not the high end coins.
I love art silver & history, and this combination is visually appealing. I believe the large dealers need to band together in their approach; to get the mint to take action. Without the big dealers, the mint cannot move large volumes of Nclt coins. The mint needs to be made aware of the threat to its market. Without dealers & customers, they will have no market for their product. They need to wake up to this fact!!
It's incredible the head in the sand approach the mint is taking towards counterfeit coins. Loyalty only goes so far in these economic times. People want the real thing when spending large amounts of money. It's a really oxymoron when the mint is so concerned about anti counterfeiting technology in its coins, yet is complacent about its fine silver collector coins!

The problem is that the mint has no control over what is done in other country's even if they did try to do something about it and your always going to find someone who is willing try and make a buck by bringing them in and selling them, maybe big fines on people that sell them in Canada would help but now your talking about more manpower by law enforcement /qoverment etc, I just don't see anything being done about it anytime soon , if ever. Even then a person could buy some online from another Country , I dont know, I too am thinking of just buying bullion now , I am not so sure anymore of the long term holding Value NCLT coins due to the increased production and other factors. But I do believe you need some proof coins in your collection even if your going to buy mostly bullion. Lower mintage silver and some gold proofs should be in your "stash".

Sure the RCM has some control over the counterfeits in China or where ever, Mr. Bennett could call the Minister of Finance on Monday or contact Mr. Harper and raise the issue with their Chinese counterparts the issue will be resolved or the RCM can be proactive and sue them in Chinese courts, there are lots of things a normal company would do in this scenario except they choose to do nothing. These fakes are on a few Canadian ebay sellers so they must be easily imported into Canada, so it seems the RCM has not informed the CBSA. Don't forget the RCM sent their legal department after a band for using a penny image.

The RCM went after a "save the tree group" for putting stickers on loonies a few years ago.........but no help here oh yeah.....they spent 85 million dollars 2 years ago on advertising granny bait but not one penny (cent) to educate or help fight counterfeiting. They could care less about collectors.

Unless we customers stop buying RCM products and hurts their bottom line or most customers enail their thoughts on this issue it will not be stopped by reporting ebay sales. You have to prevent the fakes from making it to ebay and that can only be accomplished by the patent and copyright holders. New Balance shoes sued a Chinese company and shut them down in a Chinese court. There are many ways for the RCM to combat this issue, there is just no will and now it seems the RCM is shutting out Mr. Marshalls great effort. Maybe when the superman fakes hit the market and destroy the only hot issue this year, many more collectors will contact the RCM.

The description states: "This is not from The Royal Mint Canadian" i.e. "This is a replica"

I spent some time on ebay and came up with plenty of ads & sellers to report. I've reported them, maybe someone else would like to help and report them too. This is the fake Tuvalu coins: 221326867162 bids 171180239549/ 121214724381/ 331068514020. This person has several active ads for titanic coins. 331073249366/ Canada titanic fakes: 231097991483/ 331073249358/ 251308662784/ the next seller has sold over 30 fake titanic coins: 111225464894. This is what I found in 15 mins. Some are repeat sellers of these fakes. I'd like feedback if we should start a separate thread for posting counterfeit ad numbers to report, or just keep it in this thread any thoughts? Here are 2 Canadian sellers I missed: 251380662784/ 26133497874.
