So for the newbies out here, this means that they thought the toning was questionable? Sorry for what is probably an obvious question for many...

AGlA unfortunately yes. That coin is beautiful regardless of how it got that way over the years.

I despise the questionable color designation personally. Its like sitting on the fence, either have call it artificial or not imo.

It is a beautiful coin, no doubt.

How does one take photos of that quality? Can I assume that an SLR was used with a macro lens?

PCGS, you are disappoint.

Well, this coin is better off. It don't need no stinking slab. It speaks for itself.

If I said what I wanted to say, thanks to our Bad Word Filter all you'd see is a sting of smileys. Between this travesty, and what they've done to CCF member serial here:

https://goccf.com/t/162108

....I've about done with recommending PCGS.

I was just about to post that link as I have been following that saga and just found this thread.

Awesome Lincoln.

Almost as much of a travesty as the "AT" 1836 Gobrecht dollar

I do not know how to quote.

Demarco I do not know how Bob gets such great pics. I do know I am sending him a few other coins next week.

Look for the New Robec pics thread when I start it.

Jack why in the world, given some of the modern crap toners PCGS encapsulates would that not want that dollar in a problem free toner? Wonderful

Great looking cent! When I first saw it, the sheen reminded me of a cent I have. I ended up soaking it in acetone and the result was pretty wild and the real toning was revealed.

    Seen here:

Of course there's my infamous Dr. Pepper toned 1942 Proof Mercury dime that came back almost blast white from PCGS. Needless to say I haven't submitted anything since then...

I have not been posting here since it is so hard to keep up with numerous sites, but I tought I would update the thread.

PCGS gave this coin a sickening 64BN this time around. Here is the TV for those that care
