I'm new to this forum, like a couple others. I just bought the 1/2 2014 set. I'm a bit of a sucker for subscriptions, and the designs that we can see looked pretty nice. That better be some good quality cardboard, though. Maybe the case will resemble the prickly pear cactus flower case? That would be OKAY.
Nothing else this release really jumped out at me. I, too, was hoping to see the last Duck, but what can you do. As for subscriptions, I'm still waiting for coin 7 for the 2013 1/2 Oz. O Canada series. In my orders, it just says back-ordered. I have yet to receive any coins after 6, actually. And rather than buy any new coins and sets, I really want to complete my Group Of Seven set (I just need the Jackson coin) and I have the first four Lunar Lotus set (I only need the horse).
Because I'm a student and my expenditure is limited, especially during the school months, I haven't been able to buy much since September. Once I get my second semester tuition paid for in January, I'm hoping to be able to 'treat' myself to some - IMO - well earned coins.
Does anyone else feel like the Mint is being a bit desperate lately? Grouping together coins that - presumably - didn't sell out? Canadian Icons, Allegory, 2013 12 Coin 1/2 Oz O Canada (with a cold trim that will you cost you $25 a coin). It all just seems a little desperate. If they had smaller mintages, instead of 40k for O Canada, perhaps they'd sell out. Obviously they don't see an issue, though, because the 2014 O Canada set also has a mintage of 40,000.
Oh well, I'm criticizing them yet I'm the sucker who keeps buying and encouraging the Mint to do what it does...

In the subscription page, it says 10,000 coins .... so in theory they could sell as much as 10,000 subscriptions.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Mint sets a limit on subscription set because, even if a subscription sells out, they ALWAYS seem to have extra individual coins to sell.

AND - do you see somewhere written, that new O Canada subscriptions will be available as individual coins? I didn't find this statement

I believe they will sell them as individual coins, that is how they could make the following claim about the 1/2oz Northern Lights coin.

"Save an additional $15 with the ½-ounce Fine Silver Series! The exclusive coloured coin featuring the Northern Lights is regularly priced at $54.95 but is yours for only $39.95 when you subscribe."

I wonder why the coloured Polar Bear would have a limit of three versus the limit of one for the Caribou?

My thought was that maybe the Polar Bear normally would be the more popular of the two, but by making the Caribou limited to one, it creates more desire to buy because it is made to appear to be more of a hot coin.

In my excitement of not being able to subscribe to Great Lakes coin set & just getting the Lake Superior individual coin, St George & Dragon, and 1 oz 2014 Oh Canada subscription, I totally forgot about the Life in the North whale coin (I have liked whales since being able to see while in the Navy) & went back to RCM for an additional order. When I initially went to RCM website (after new releases) they were showing 52 coins & now down to 45.
