They're waiting until 3:15 (Banff time) until they release the new lucky loonie, hopefully it's not the same design as in the picture

Not available yet but there is a sign up to be notified by e-mail when they are available.
They'll probably have a press conference and photo op to announce them sometime soon.
edit to ad: looks like it's already on their FB page but am I nuts or is this the same design as 2012? (btw, 'both' is an acceptable answer).

Some other information:
The coin will be in circulation starting January 20.
Each member of the Canadian team will receive a 2014 Lucky Loonie upon their arrival in Sochi.
There is a Lucky Loonie coin exchange in Banff today.

Yeah it's the same design, because.... (This my answer from the question I asked them on Twitter)
@CanadianMint: @coinscanada1999 We retained a familiar, popular design to strengthen the symbolism & further instill pride in supporting #TeamCanada
Are they too lazy to make a new design for 2014 or did they just forget about the Olympics and lets just restrike the same coins but with 2014 on it.

Just read a similar message on FB. That is pretty lame. Can't believe they couldn't be bothered creating a new image.

According to the images, there is a change in design....of the packs but not of the coins.

Another Lucky Loonie is available at RCM. This time it is silver and, so far, for Canadian MC members only. "Fine Silver Coin - Lucky Loonie (2014)" features the Canadian Olympic Team logo in colour! Mintage: 15000

More like they didn't want to change their dies and rather keep something that works nicely, got to wait another 2 years to see if I give up this series too. . Why mess up a tradition that they had going nicely since 2004, why, for what reason. Instilling pride is having separate coin designs so people remember distinctly what had happen in those games.
Cursed, I am so disappointed.

A new design would have been nice. Disappointed in the RCM. But since I'm a loon dollar collector I HAVE to buy it. As well as all the $20 gift sets this year too.

Was the 2012 issued with the reverse proof finish?
Edit: Just checked and the 2012 has the regular proof finish. So at least the 2014 will be a little different.

Quote: Was the 2012 issued with the reverse proof finish? Good point. The 2012 is listed as proof and the 2014 as reverse proof...however, they look identical on the mint website so remains to be seen if the finish is actually different. Mintage was also dropped from 20k to 15k.

Yeah, I've just got the email from my Representative announcing the Luckie Loonie.
He advises to order ASAP because he considers it will be a sold out soon.
