Hey guys, how do I do a quote here? I am not seeing it ... anyway to the suggestion that the Mint use the 1960s-style engraving I could not agree more. Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis took great pains to get her husband's hair and portrait just the way she liked it, and I think she would despise the cartoonish aspect they have now (as do the Lincoln cents and American Gold Eagles, since I am on a rant). Frank Gasparro, Victor D. Brenner, and Augustus Saint-Gaudens all deserve far better service than they are getting from the Mint. Best Regards, George

Yet another reason why COTY awards always seem to elude the U.S. Mint, profit over art. I am sorry, I don't want to see the mint operate at a deficit to the tax payers, but to much of the rest of the world, their coins are art. I am sure we can do both. George, here is a faq on quoting and other things http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/faq.asp#quote

Too bad they don't have a " reply to quote " button/link like the other web sites. Makes it much easier.

Quote: Too bad they don't have a " reply to quote " button/link like the other web sites. Makes it much easier. That is, except when the "newbies" start replying to one page quotes by pressing the " reply to quote " button. The next thing you know, you have six pages of the same one page quote followed by one sentence answers. Makes for a hugely cluttered and annoying forum. Easier, just to make the people learn to use quotes.

Quote: Hey guys, how do I do a quote here? I like to use the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the page. So to make the above quote box show up, I typed the following in the Quick reply box: In other words, whatever you want to quote, just copy/paste it and then encapsulate it like in the above pic. Its faster for me.

Thanks a lot for helping educate the newbie around here. Everybody here is just so dadgum helpful here. Nice place to come visit ... and a welcome relief from some of the freely spilled vitriol at Some Other Places. Best Regards, George

Sounds like the CAC will be discussing whether the new Kennedy half will have one date or two on the front of the coin. They can either go with the 2014 date or the 1964 to 2014 date, kind of like the bicentenial coins. Here is what the Mint News Log had on their page: The first mockup includes the dual date "1964-2014″ which would represent the first year of the series and the 50th anniversary year. This is reminiscent of the Kennedy half dollars produced in 1975 and 1976 which contained the dual date of "1776-1976″ to represent the nation's bicentennial dates.

Okay, I have to admit, the idea of a dual dated Kennedy half dollar made me a bit more excited about them.
