I stand corrected, I had not seen this article. Thanks AES for sharing the latest news from Coin World. As a gold one-off in a series that is otherwise clad and silver, this piece strikes me as sort of the reverse of the 1995-W American Silver Eagle that was issued with the American Gold Eagles. Yeah, it's not gonna be cheap.

I bet there will be some upset Kennedy collectors who can not afford this gold coin and now they will have incomplete sets. Just like my ASE collection will probably never be complete due to the 1995 W. This gold coin will be interesting to follow as more details come out.

I will most likely get the clad and silver versions, the gold is a bit too much for me.

I would really love to have that gold one. I do not have any gold coins now, so it would be a first.
However, I cannot justify spending so much on one, not when I have other series key dates to purchase.

I'm hoping for a replay of the 2009 UHR, some big fast bucks to be earned potentially

Looks too much like the millions of gold plated Kennedys floating around out there. Who wants a coin where you constantly have to tell people " ....yeah ......but this one is real, solid gold " Can you tell I probably won't be able or willing to shell out $1100 for one of these ? They don't have slots in albums and like this one, are not part of a complete set.

I agree, the gold coin would be nice to have but is out of my price range.

Best Regards, George

Somehow I don't think the target audience for the gold Kennedy will be those who have to be convinced that it's not just one of the gold plated jobs. I think collectors will know....and...I would also be hesitant about showing ANY precious metal products to those who have no inherent interest in them.
But that's just me....

Obviously, I was being tongue in cheek with my assertion, to make up excuses why I am unable/unwilling to buy one of these.
But it does bring up other points. Why buy it if you are not going to brag and show it off to people who are non collectors?
Isn't that like stealing a Picasso or a Van Gogh and locking it away in your own private viewing room in your basement because no one can know you have it?
I have a viewing shelf in my home, that I rotate regularly with my collection for people to see and admire and ask about. I regularly let my kids bring $100 coins into school for show and tell, to teach others, that is why I collect.

Tell that to the folks who have been recently paying $1,400+ on ebay for the gold plated "tribute" gold buffalos that are even marked COPY.

I think the dual date would be the best thing to do in differentiating the coin. Imagine if they just use the 2014 date. Now THAT is a potential problem.

It may well be the first gold coin I purchase as well. We will see.

So, how much gold would be in the gold one? I bet it is at least twice the price of the gold it contains.
