Holy Cow! The pricing for these anniversary coins is insane. I'm thinking that the gold coin will be the only one worth grading.

I called the Mint a couple of days ago and asked about the two coin set, and if it was different from the coins in the Kennedy rolls that they sell. She put me on hold to get an answer, came back with they are the same coins. So the $10.00 cost is for the package, I already have the rolls. I only want the four coin set and the gold!

I Have the rolls as well but I'm still going to pick up at least 1 set from the Mint and do a comparison. Some times the helpful people at the other end of the phone line make error's as well. We'll see. Dar

Actually the Mint Rep is wrong from what I've read
The P and D halves in the rolls and bags are the low relief. The 2014 Proof and Mint Set halves are also the low relief.
The P and D in the two coin set will be the original 1964 high relief, accented hair version. The 4 coin silver set and the gold coin will also use the high relief.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Quote:The first product available will be the 50th Anniversary Kennedy half dollar Uncirculated Coin Set, which contains uncirculated half dollars from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint facilities. These are produced with the original obverse portrait of 1964 and are struck in the standard copper-nickel clad composition. The sets are priced at $9.95 each, providing the lowest price point of the three offerings. If the 2014 Kennedy half in rolls are the original obverse portrait of 1964 Which I Doubt. Then and only then will they be the same

Well I hope when someone has the set in hand he/she will let us know what they are and if they are different then the Kennedy's in the rolls.

All 7 of the 50th anniversary coins will have the ORIGINAL 1964 design. ALL OF THEM. The gold. The 4 silver. And the 2 uncs. This has been stated from the minute any OFFICIAL release has come from the mint. Pretty much do not trust anything the reps say. They do a great customer servise job, but not so much on the information thing. The gold coin should be in the 1200.00 neighborhood. If you really think that this coin will not be worth a good chunk more 10 years down the line, hey, don't buy one. Personally, I believe it most certainly will be worth more. And sooner than 10 years. Its a Kennedy half. It will be truly one of a kind. And if you like Kennedys, you will want one. I am equating this one to the 98 matte proof. Casual Kennedy collectors don't necessarily care. But all serious Kennedy buffs want it. Same as the accented hair. And regardless of all of that, it is 3/4 ounce of 24kt gold. That alone guarantees a rise in value. If I can scrape the money together, this WILL be my first gold coin purchase.

You are not wrong.... Key point...Mint "reps" are great for dealing with order problems but really have no clue about the products themselves. You can probably confirm that with those who bought 2011 bullion gold coins when spot was over $500/ounce higher than it is now...

I think lots of collectors will pass on the two coin clad set offering this thursday and it will end up with a lower mintages. And the four version silver coin sets will end up with the higher mintages in the fall do to the new ordering systemQuote: The US Mint indicated that their new order management system is scheduled to go online this fall. The 50th Anniversary Kennedy Silver Coin Collection will be the first major release under the new system. http://mintnewsblog.com/2014/07/us-...dy-products/I think the ANA atribution labels will be the key to these coins future value. Quote:The Mint indicated that they might consider adjusting the limit at the ANA convention after the first day of sales. Retail locations where the coins will be available include the Philadelphia and Denver Mint gift shops and the sales counter at US Mint headquarters.
