Hi everyone, dad's parents had apparently gotten these a long while ago, not sure why or when. I was just curious if someone could help me grade them (and confirm they're real!). Thanks.

First the 1885:

My-1885-&-1958-Gold-Sovereigns,-Please-Grade

My-1885-&-1958-Gold-Sovereigns,-Please-Grade

And the 1958:

My-1885-&-1958-Gold-Sovereigns,-Please-Grade

My-1885-&-1958-Gold-Sovereigns,-Please-Grade

Thanks everyone.

as you are in the US you would be hard pressed to get much more than current melt value for either of them. I think the 1885 would grade Very Good by the British grading system. The 1958 would be around a Very Fine maybe a Good Very Fine, but I do not think it is quite that good. There may be varieties that could make them worth more but I do not know if there are.

Do not be alarmed if a knowledgeable Brit gives them a lower grade.

Yeah, when I looked online, neither was valued very high. I do know something about coins generally, but I'm still surprised that gold coins aren't worth more as coins, not just the gold. Should have invested in 1909-s VDBs ;-)

The 1885 is slightly more interesting than usual because it was minted in Australia.
