CelticKnot, there's a small one in Round Rock this weekend; don't know if it'll make the grade for you. I know the area because in another life I drove a bread route in Round Rock. http://www.coinshows.com/roundrock_bj.html

Thanks, SsuperDdave! That's only about 20 minutes from my house! I think I'll stop in just for the heck of it.

The Round Rock show is pretty good - so I hear! I have a friend that has gone a lot and done quite well in finding VAMs he needs. I have not been, as I almost always am scheduled for work Thursday through Saturdays. Last show was in Ft. Worth (last weekend) I ended up not going as I spent so much the previous couple of nights on ebay instead. The gas would be around $30 round trip to the Ft. Worth show. I did want to stop off and photograph the Max Mehl building, maybe next time.

I still plan to go tomorrow (well, I guess "today" now). Will let y'all know how it goes. And, to pull this thread back on topic, I'll let everyone know if any vendors at the show have the Mega Red Book!

Went to a coin show today. A dealer that sells books only had the soft covered with rings and the standard hard cover one. I purchased 8 of the ringed soft covered ones at $10.00 each and one hard covered one for my collection at $12.00 He didn't have any of the other varieties and said he probably wouldn't be getting any of those due to not much of a sale item. He said the standard ringed and hard covered versions sell fantastic but versions like Leather bound, etc. just sit on the tables. If your thinking of getting a new one, here is something to think about. The 2015 and 2016 editions both have 447 pages. A sort of fast look through them made me a bit irritated about the prices of coins. The Red Book is notorious for excessive prices and most places I looked, the prices stayed the same or went up. AND if you want a free Folder for the newest Quarters, at the end of the new Red Book there is a post card to send to Whitman and get two of those free. Still a great book.

I got an e-mail from Wizard saying the 45% off pricing ends on the 30th, so I have to make a decision in the next ten days. If I can find a few items to get along with it, I will.

I really think 95% of the people that get this book will be glad they did. I am.

The only issue I'm having is that it is so big, and so heavy, you can't really hold while reading. It's especially difficult if you're trying to read the pages near the end, even if the book is placed on a hard surface.

A box of lead arrived on my porch today. Ok, it just felt like a box of lead but was really my Mega Red Book (along with some other supplies I ordered from Wizard). Whew! Tbone, you're not kidding; that thing is a LOAD. I haven't had a chance to look through the pages much yet but from what I've seen so far it looks awesome.

Excellent. Be careful lugging that about, do not want you to hurt yourself.

In addition to the care required for transport, jbuck, now I have the problem of actually finding a spot for it on my bookshelf. I didn't really think I was ordering a phone book! Ah, life's little problems...
