Here's a 1929 high 9 that has ms64/65 surfaces and strike but ICCS says ('cleaned').

Hardly a mark on the coin except for an annoying 'halo' mark right on the King's nose.

perhaps dipped a long time ago but is nicely retoning around the edges.

I know theres at least one member who has a nice ms64 example. the coin in the listing is nasty though I wouldn't even touch it for the trends price of a regular example.

The ICCS MS-64/65 looks like a few I've seen out there where some geniuses tried to enhance the copper with a "cleaning fluid" which changes the color by a halftone. If it was sent to PCGS it would've been "BodyBagged". Suggestion, don't mess with the coins-just leave them alone.
I, like the graders at PCGS think 1/2 the coins out there have been "screwed" with. It's extremely hard to find an original piece....
As for Bob Armstrongs' coins....I hope you're not going to use him as the proxy for every dealer....!

Thanks for the info on this coin. I just added a 1929 to my collection and I had to run off with my magnifying glass and check it. Alas, no high 9. :(

More than a halftone off. It's been dipped or cleaned for way too long.
