Not a huge haul by any means but a local branch had $190 in CWR. Normally this quantity of halves is a dump from another roll hunter, however the tellers informed me they came from someone who was helping her parents clean out a basement room. Plucked 9 40%ers from these rolls - 3 1967, 3 1968 D and 3 1969 D. Interesting toning on a few and at today's spot, well worth the $4.50 in FV.  |

After a three-week cold snap, I finally had some success at two banks yesterday. When I called a teller at a bank in the next town that previously never had any half dollars, I was pleasantly surprised when she told me that she had $31 in loose half dollars. I found six 40% Kennedy half dollars in that cache. Eventually the worm turns... Later I purchased the three boxes of bank-rolled halves that I acquire every week at a different bank. I got skunked on this first box -- but I found two uncirculated 1964 Kennedy half dollars and three more coins that contain 40% silver in the other boxes. More than 50% of the coins in the third box were newly minted (which diluted the amount of the modest collection dump I infer it contained).   |

The last time at this bank had a huge score 79 40% and 16 90%. I made it back there today not as good but still not too bad. Teller had one roll of halves solid all 40%.  |
