(1) two tailed coin

.... wait? Two tailed? as in both sides are the "Reverse" of a Kennedy half?

Is this an error coin or is this a fabrication for some magic trick?

Does this really happen from the u.s. mint? I havent ever heard of it...

Two-headed and two-tailed coins are almost always novelty Magician's coins. They get slipped into circulation like any other "collectible"; by accident or by people not realizing what they are. They are not difficult to make. It takes two coins; one is hollowed out on one side and the other filed down to fit inside.

Speaking of Halfs, I was at an antique shop today and saw s Bicentennial set of the Ike dollar, Kennedy half and Washington quarter. I think they were s mint. The set looked like it was in the original US Mint plastic, but no other packing. The price was $25, would thisbe a good price?

How do I tell if I have 40% or 90%? I have about 30 Clad Halves from the Motherload that I am searching
See Topic https://goccf.com/t/30025

I have Kennedys, Franklins, and a few Eisenhower(sp) Dollars.

The rest of the Halves are old, Non-clad, Walking Libs, and Kennedys and Morgan dollars.

1965-1970 are 40% there are some proofs that are silver too. the silver look different than clad to me. They are whiter due to the silver mix.

Today I went to the bank and I asked for $10 in half dollars (I know its not much but I don't have much money to spare). The teller then takes out $20 in halfs and starts counting them and I notice there are several silver ones there. Whenever she counted a silver one, she would say "Oh, this one is different" and she wouldn't give it to me. So yeah, I got $10 in clad halves...

yea if they are loose then chances of getting silver are low unless it is a JFK one. I doubt they are going to hand you a BF or walker unless they are young and clueless.

You need customer wrapped rolls.

Personally, I think that stinks.

First off, they are acting like its THEIR money. It most certainly is not. They do not have the authority to say "I'll give you these coins here but not sell you these coins here because they are special". They can refuse your business altogether or give you limits according to rules and regulations the bank must follow. If you would have gotten the manager over and said to him/her that you wanted all those coins, I'm sure she would have let you buy them. Doesn't matter what they are for or what they are. That's none of their business. What next? You want to change 5 singles for a $5 bill and the rest of the $5 bills in the bank are "special" so she can't give any to you? Yeah, a stretch, but that is what it is amounting to.

Don't get me wrong. That teller can and did do whatever it is that they did to you. I'm OK with them doing their buying of whatever they want from the bank. Those are employee perks and nothing is wrong with that. But c'mon, not in front of a customer's face! And worst of all, she didn't even BUY it in front of you. She put them ASIDE in front you! A store owner, I understand. They paid for their merchandise, they can do whatever they want with it including throwing me out of their store if they don't like what I say or do. But imagine somebody like a grocery store cashier ringing things up for you and takes one of the jars of spaghetti sauce you are buying and says "oh, this one is nice, I want to buy it later, sorry, you'll have to get another one". Come on now.

If this is the only bank in your town, then I understand not wanting to make enemies. Sorta. But as long as you aren't abusing them or the bank's operations, and following all rules and regulations, you have rights as a customer. Next time they do this sorting in front of you, politely ask to speak to a manager. Trust me. Managers don't have the time nor the patience for this kind of teller shenanigans. Their job is to keep the bank running and the customers happy as long as it is within reason.

I unloaded $100 in rolled halves recently at Home Depot and the cashier didn't flinch- she just checked one roll to make sure they were right. It is actually rare for me to spend halves and not get a reaction.

Also recently, I was going to pay for something at the drugstore with halves and the lady behind me got very excited and wanted to cash me out before I handed them over to the cashier. I complied. It was about $14 in halves.

I agree if they are going to search their coin rolls, then they shouldn't do it in front of a customer. I bet a manager would have made her sell it to you. They aren't going to want to anger a customer assuming you are an account holder. I have never gotten a Ben or Walker loose.

I actually had a teller give me 5 Walkers, 7 bens, 2 proofs, and 90% JFK and 2 40% at a bank on Friday.

I thought I hit the mother load. Ending up getting about 3 or 4 more 40% and another proof in the rest of the stops. I have four boxes coming in today though. Hoping for the best!

I must have had beginners luck. I walked into a bank I had never been before today and asked if they had any halves. They said as many as I want. I suspected 5 or 10 but in actuality it was 500.00 bucks worth. I couldn't swing that so got 80 from their ATM (and yes was charged 3 bucks for the transaction). I got 8 rolls and found a silver clad 1967 in #1. Awesome, so I opened # 2 and there was a 1968D...Fantastic. Unfortunately no more clad halves in the rolls, just a 1964 half. Otherwise lots of 1971s,72s,74s, and bicentennials. Great luck for the first 8 rolls. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to get there before they shipped the others. I was told they were going out today. Supposedly they have halves often so I will be returning. I also filled in some holes of my Whitmans (6-7 holes).

I am addicted.

I paid for my groceries and haircut today in JFKs. Only 120 or so to spend.
