Exhausted all banks here......but found myself in a nearby town a couple hours ago.... They had five dollars worth they said.... I COULD SEE A SILVER ONE IN HER TRAY ! So I said I'd take em' and it was a 1967 40% ! Woooo ! Then I hit the other bank in that town and got $30.00 worth. They said the next town west has a bunch, so I went there and got $180.00 worth and just kept going ! I think I ended up with about $350.00 worth of customer wrapped rolls......NO FEDERAL RESERVE ONES ! I'll report my findings tomarrow ! Already got one !

WOW ! I got skunked ! Nothing but the one "loose" one ! Every town and every bank had ALREADY BEEN STRUCK BY SILVER BANDITS ! Ha Ha Kind of disappointed now !
Still some other towns to check before I make the "box order" ! Silver hunting is becomming soooo popular with halves.....it's getting hard to find a place someone hasn't already struck or deposited their batch from searching.
I'm still excited to look in this other town.....it's a college town (actually there's two good sized college towns) only 45 minutes away ! And business will take me to one of them soon so.........

Another box down, another empty hole for silver coins. $1500 searched, jack squat in return. One more box and I quit.

Checked $100 from my bank the other day and found 1 1957 90% Franklin. That was all but a good find for being my only one. Silver is drying up. People are catching on as the price gets higher.

My 4 boxs I ordored came from Brinks no problem from an Bank. Loomis bank shorted me 1 box I ordered since I ask for two of them. Did I run loomis short on Half dollars ? Bank teller told me Loomis had only had two boxs in stock and sent 1 to me and they had to send one to other bank an box of halfs. Bank teller never had that happen. Last monlth I bought over 13 boxs from Loomis banks. Did I run loomis short? I dont know what is wrong?

The Loomis box I did get was Dated feb 18, 2008 cwi . I never seen an date on on them intill that box. I heard rumor and is it true? The trucking companys are having trouble buying them Fed bank? Is there shorage of halfs in fed banks?

On finds in those 5 boxs or 5000 coins I went thru.
1. 17 dollars Face on 40% silver coins.
2. 3 dollars on 64 and Ben franklins. One ben was 1952 and other was 1962.
3. 1976 s silver bu mint set coin. I installed in my book without cuting up mint set.
4. 1993 proof coin that in bad shape.
5. 4 2002 thru 2007 coins totol .
6. Maybe 400 to 500 dollars face on 2000 philly coins that all bu and never used. Strange Some rolls in boxs were solid date rolls but when you opened it some of them an mix of 1976 or 1997 coins in there. Lots bu unused coins.
7. 2 Boxs full on common date 1971 thru 1979 coins. 2 dollars worth 1978 coins.
8. One and half boxs worth 1990 thru 1999 coins. 1 1993 philly coin found out the intire mess of coins. 1 or 2 1990 denever or philly coins found.
9. Half an box is all 1980 thru 1989 coins. No 1986 philly coins found I needed for my books. Its seems all 1980 something mints are hard to find and lots them are trashed or junk coins. 1980 something coins are tough building sets. Not that many philly mints found totol here.

It was fun and got an lot work to on trying fill books and dispose of unwanted coins. I may reordor another Batch from an brinks bank next time. I felt I got more silver and stuff compared to an Loomis box.

Well......I just returned to the office from my main branch bank and picked up my full Fed. Res. box. This is my first time ordering a box of any kind and judging by the recent postings........ silver is drying up ! Great ! So it's probably a mere formality for me to search my box tonight.....I'm NOT so excited now.....and I'm not expecting ANYTHING but maybe one 40% coin......

I like to read this daily. I to have done way to much roll searching in my area there not a silver half left unless a teller or bank employee have them tucked away for them self.

Kk.... as I posted on a topic.... "silver bandits"....
I found ONE 40%er in a $500.00 box, a '67 ....(a few other nice conditioned ones I saved in case I ever get a Kennedy album to start)
So, I guess I didn't get "completely" skunked ! But MAN ! I "used" to find 90% 1964's !! And now a fella's lucky to even find one 40%er in a box or a "silver run"........ disconcerning........too many silver bandits....... I won't quit, but.......shhhheeeeeeeshhh!

Mycrob,
Are you looking for people to do the same thing you are doing with the Kennedy half dollars?

It depends on what you want to keep and why. 01P not intended for circulation but they made 21 million, so I doubt this will ever carry much of a premium. 2002-present are all very low mintages not intended for circulation. I probably would keep any of those. Keep 64 P&D, 65, 66, 67, 68D, 69D, 70D, 87P, 87D.

After that, you might consider keeping higher condition of the following (copied from my earlier post):

The toughest coins to find, based on the compiled analysis of the coin by coin details given by many CCF members and combined by me:

78
78D
79D
81D
82P
82D
85P
86P
88P
89P
90D
91D
93P
99P
99D
00P
01D

Of these the toughest are:
78D
79D
81D
82P
82D
85P
93P
00P

I'm wondering what you think of Mycrob's list above? Aside from the obvious: silver, silver-clad, and 1987 would you keep that other stuff on his list because of low mintages? That is a ton of halves to have to store away. There is some consensus on keeping the 2002-present because those halves were not pressed into circulation but as far as the others, what would you do. Mycrob, thank you for your analysis provided in that list by the way.

I opened a box of Half Dollars today. I had opened up my first box of them about two weeks ago, and got absolutely nothing. Still, I waited with high hopes for this box to come in. After reading a different post on this forum a few days ago lamenting the fact that silver seems to be drying up, I did start to feel a little discouraged. I went through it today, and I will NEVER forget this box! As the posts on this thread tend to do, I broke down all of the coins by date. Here are the results:

That is one heck of a box....congratulations! You are correct, you will never forget that box but at the same time you may wish you could forget it when you keep opening rolls and not getting the same type results. I had a great day a couple weeks ago and now I won't say it's disappointing when I only find 1 or 2 40%ers but you do get spoiled to the great finds
