Are These Original Bank Rolls? - Coin Community Forum

ace_ftw Pillar of the Community Canada 1747 Posts	Posted 07/03/2015 11:30 am Guys I have been sitting on these for a few months, I bought these at face value from a bank. my question is are these original rolls of 1967 nickels? do you think the rolls are all 67's or could they be mixed? is this more valuable untouched, or should I rip these sucker open and look for some rotated dies the one end that is opened was by me, but I did not remove any coins. Smallcentguy Pillar of the Community Canada 1984 Posts	Posted 07/03/2015 12:10 pm I recently went through a large number of similar rolls. Don't count on finding any MS65+ coins. I found my hit rate was around 1%. I suspect that between the production at the mint and then the rolling at the banks, the amount of handling was pretty heavy. Report this Post to the Staff

Smallcentguy Pillar of the Community Canada 1984 Posts	Posted 07/03/2015 4:32 pm Worth a try. I went through about 50 rolls. I found 0 clips. There were quite a few rotated dies but none over maybe 25 degrees. I found a few nice strike through errors and about 1% gem grade contenders. Report this Post to the Staff
OldCoinGuy Valued Member Canada 154 Posts	Posted 07/13/2015 10:35 pm I picked up a bank roll of 1967 nickels, just like these, back in the early 70s. I only cracked it open about 10 years ago. A quick look through the coins resulted in a blank planchet and a 90 degree rotation. It is probably time I went back to take a closer look at the rest of the roll. Report this Post to the Staff
