Quote: I for one hope that there are plenty to go around. The mint is not supposed to be, and IMHO should not be, in the business of producing rarities. I agree, but at the same time they should try not to overproduce so that the values do not plummet in the secondary market. They missed the mark on the Truman and Eisenhower C&C sets by underproducing at 17k sets. They've missed the mark by setting the limit of the Reagan set too high at 150k. I think 50k to 75k would have been the proper number.

I think you are right, they seem to over or under-shoot the sweet spot.
Not to sound selfish, but regardless of what they do, if I get my set then I am happy.

The Hurricane Matthew has effected the delivery of my RR C&C set. It is scheduled for delivery next Tuesday.
The Mint really over estimated the demand of this set too.

Ok... here are a bunch of pics. Pretty good-looking set. Note that the case material is more "satin-y" to the touch than the previous C&C sets. The slip case, insert and booklet. There was a piece of padding inserted. The "triptych" opened up, with slip cover and booklet. Portrait page: Center page with RP dollar: Medal and ASE page: RP dollar: Ronald & Nancy Medal: ASE: Back inside cover: COA: Contents (back of slip cover):

Celticknot, in the picture, it looks like the "In God We Trust" is doubled. Real, or just a phenomenom of the picture?

Great looking photo set, CelticKnot. My set made it to the post office on Sunday, so I should get it sometime today.

Thanks, jbuck! Hopefully you'll be pleased with your set when it's in hand.
@westernsky - the household order limit was released on the 14th, a mere 3-4 days into sales. Hopefully that means that they won't come close to selling 150k.

Regan has popular following, but I cannot imagine this set selling out.

I think that the speculators who took a hit on the Kennedy in no way want to have anything to do with this one due to the higher mintage limits. Ironically, due to the inclusion of the proof ASE, I think this one represents the best value in the presidential C&C sets.

When all is said and done, it is best to buy these sets because you want them, not because you want to profit. There are much easier ways to make a buck. The wife just sent a text. My set has arrived!
