Wow a real nice coin! I would change one aspect on it, no wavy lines on the kings side. otherwise its stunning. So is the ebay price, where will it be next yr? A rather expensive coin to photograph in public.

I hope all those posters, and even others, who didn't like the way the mint handled this, send an a message to them and not just post on a forum. Perhaps if enough people officially complain, they might listen. I did 2 days ago. I wasn't rude, but expressed my concern for their rules not being followed. I expected a response, but just like being on the waiting list for this coin, I'm not holding my breath. Funny thing about the waiting list. Previously when I've called using the exclusive MC phone number, I've waited on average a half hour before getting a person. When I called the general "every else" phone number to get on the waiting list, I had no wait at all. I'm really not liking how they treat their (the jokes on you) best customers.

True words, MonneyPenney That what I thought too...the first one, very limited mintage the way that there is not satisfied demand + classique design definitively the winner. Looks good, but the obverse is still could be way better. we will see, how the people will fight to upload in the quantities the next coin This one sells for CAD 500 (BIN) in few clicks of mouse, and people always will want to get the "scarce" item or to make the money on it. (Probably the next one will not have same success, and unfortunatelly RCM may increase the mintage).

Quote: Well excuse me for posting bad pictures. @Jackalope I don't think Mike was dissing your pics. He posted a rough pic earlier today and then promised to post better pics when he could (which he did). He wasn't saying his were better than yours, he was saying his were better than the one his GF took earlier today. In any case, thanks to both of you for posting. The coin does look impressive.

Well, there is no way for RCM to satisfied all their MC member with this release. And yes, chances are, they will increase the mintage for the next coin to the point that there's no point in having it

Lostwords... Yes...given the outcry of so many missing out...there will likely be an increase in the mintage for the next coin of this series...and then there will be an outcry for increasing the mintage and softening the overall demand...so really how does the MINT please all? What do collectors want...a nice coin for everybody...or a nice coin for some...and you miss it, you miss it...? Threats on not renewing one's MC status...is that a proper response in this instance?

I actually first heard of it from this thread. No automated email or anything. I agree with you though, you guys should've had a chance at it, not fair from the Mint.
Thanks for the reply Coincanuck. Actually, I was mostly curious how it worked. Indeed I'm not a current MC member and although the SD is very nice, in my opinion it's no match for the genuine product that could be bought for equal $. I've broken free from RCM and now only order the odd item that appeals to me. But I'm still interested, I suppose because I hold a fair amount of their past inventory in my collection and I also can appreciate that everyone likes different things. It's nice to see people pleased, regardless of what type of coin they choose to collect!

While they will likely increase the mintage for the second coin, the value of the first coin will be maintained or increased since there is a finite number (2200) of them.
There would be no outcry if the Mint had followed the rules and not let anyone who wanted one to order one.

Very limited mintage, distributed to the eligible people - this is how should it be. And if low tier MC had no chance to buy it - this all right. The problem, when it distributed incorrectly. Btw, mint still have ability to compare the orders with the eligibility of the members and re-distribute the coins. But they will not do it. In any way, great that we again have valuable and desirable item from RCM. Can we hope that it reach $1000 soon? This will be sweet. But the second and the next - only if you like it (potential "Glass Bumblebee" or even "GITD-2")

Here is my attempt to show the obverse. It is not as weird as I thought. And with the right angle of light, it can look very nice.

That's what I did, but no response. My rep said "sorry". In a way it was good for me to miss out on this coin-it has curbed my habit. LOL

Any guesses on how high the price will go for this one? Just a few days after its release and thecoinshoppe already wants almost $800 CDN on ebay. Hottest coin to come out of the mint in a LONG time imo.

will climb probably to CAD 1000. If 1oz Glass Butterfly 5000 mintage reached CAD 1000, so this able to do it too.
But we have to wait just a bit for the dealers to be sold out. Together with this the coin has to be hot, people need to realize, that they have no way to get it, only buy paying $$$....incredible, what simple replica of 1935 Silver Dollar could do.

Quote: Which dealers have this coin? I would be happy to order one from them. The Coin Shoppe on ebay? For CAD 492 (as I saw it), or $800 as people reported... The rest might be also wait, to "push" it for a good profit.
