The only few coins I have sold was the first gold superman coin at the Coin Expo, just could not resist the price 2 went for 2500.00 and one at 2300.00. if these 2 oz. goes the same insane route of 800.00 or more you can't blame anyone on selling them.

Yeah Silveriod, that pretty much explains it. I just don't get the concept of collecting solely based on what others might want or me wanting what others have just because I don't have it. Shrieks of a pack attitude, the schoolyard nah na nah na sort of thing. I don't think that sort sticks with one thing very long before they move on to something else.

To the contrary, the numerous comments from others who genuinely thrilled with what they've bought and received are delightful to read. That same feeling of satisfaction is shared by all coin collectors, regardless of whatever we choose to collect.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time the 1935 silver dollar design has been done in gold-plated right?

That the 2oz SD is a special offering to MC members is also what's different in comparison to the mostly all other NCLT that has utterly plummeted in value in a short time.

If the secondary market was able to sustain a value of $800 for this particular first offering, consider the positive impact to RCM volume sales and profits by others who also choose to achieve status in the MC program in order to participate in the purchase of special offerings in future years. Exclusive membership is not that costly considering X-for-X can be redeemed for full value upon receipt.

Then watch MC special offering mintage increase. If RCM has their nose only on annual sales and short-term profit, it'd also possible they intentionally rolled out this poorly implemented program with an eye to increase their MC base. Just a thought.....not to be sceptical but it's hard not to be, considering what else they churn out.

I think the opposite, the RCM is trying to weed out mc created by the BOC sale and the casual 20 for 20 buyers by having these tier system, like I have said before someone buys those kilo gold coins and they deserve some kind of special treatment. As always the RCM finds a way to screw things up by allowing apparently some none mc to order this coin.

Here's a list of all the NCLT SDs that have been produced since they were discontinued from circulation in 1967. No other reproduction of a gold-plated King George V SD has been made.

The 1935 silver dollar design is unique because it was the first year of the circulated SD. But the popular voyager is not unique - it was used most years, last in 1966 for circulation coin, of course bearing the respective monarch's effigy at the time. (Forgive me if I am writing what you already know.)

Do not see any issue, when collector tries to resell his coin(s) to get the money - for profit or for loss.

So I assume, some Platinum MCs bought this SD, cause it looks good, low mintage etc, and later preferred cash...happy for them.
Do not like, when the "collectors" hoarding the stuff to resell.

If we're speaking of RCM's high end most profitable clients, I'd be utterly amazed if this MC program of special offerings or freebies was created to retain their business.

I'd expect their assigned sales reps are provided with authority to grant what's commonly known as discretionary pricing, if not on NCLT, then certainly on bullion. What that means is they buy at a reduced prices because the value of their business warrants it. No company advertises this but it's a commonplace business practise.

A couple years ago a collector was trying to sell the kilo gold dragon coin, it was beautiful, went to a few dealers at Torex show was offered bullion value only. Had a chat with him he paid 69,000 directly from RCM was so disappointed with the dealer offers, maybe he was gifted a kilo silver version or something like that. I am almost sure if these high end buyers would have been allowed to buy 10 or 20 of this issue.

John, yes that's certainly possible that the limit was unlimited for the top cream of the crop. Not too many companies say no to the hand that feeds....might also explain the muddled delivery.

There will be no dealer like silvertowne to shove endless amounts on ebay depressing the markets on this coin, most of the units are in good hand just like the 5 penny sets.

Totally agree john100. Received mine today from a secondary seller (yes as a platinum RCM I was left out in the cold) and it looks spectacular.
As far as the effigy issue. My thoughts are we're not use to seeing it in such a large format

I wonder what level & perks the collector that buys the 10 k gold coin belongs too. There are several pricy gold coins & occasionally they do sell out. Those gold high dollar coins makes other collectors look like small potatoes.

It must be an incredible feeling to drop 10k on a coin and not care. So I am under no illusion that my 1k business matters, when compared to these collectors, I am small fry.

Its a huge amount to me, however its all relative to disposable income. I may think I spend a lot and deserve big bonus, but who do I compare myself to, a collector that spends under $300 yearly. The free shipping does add up when you buy single coins several times a year. Even 5 shipments is a nice savings.

I have gotten spoiled with it, and give my business to free shipping orders. I live in a small town with bad shopping options, so I do a fair amount of online shopping.

The kilo gold coins are even more, but just like I say Mercedes don't build $200,000 cars just to look pretty in the showroom, it's people with slightly larger disposable incomes. The senior reps. at the RCM, probably falls over themselves going after these rare few customers.
