Quote: I keep saying their dealers doesn't need the other 220 units I disagree. IMO the RCM's larger dealers deserve a portion of the mintage of this coin so that they can reward their best customers - many of whom likely spend thousands of dollars each year - with the opportunity to purchase a limited edition piece. It is not hard to imagine that the RCM's largest dealers spend well in excess of $100,000 (at dealer wholesale prices) on RCM product each year - a very significant number of coins! Including among these purchases are large numbers of slow-moving items that sit in their inventory for years. Large RCM dealers are the ultimate "Masters Club" members. These dealers are significant drivers of the market for RCM products and need to be rewarded for their support. To cut them out and "forget" about them on this coin would be a poor business strategy by the RCM. I think it was a good idea to hold 90% of the mintage for direct purchase from the RCM and allocate 10% to dealers, it allows the largest customers of RCM products (regardless of where they purchase them) to have a chance at a low-mintage coin.

"like I keep saying their dealers doesn't need the other 220 units." I agree with that statement. Really, according to the RCM web site, weren't these coins intended for MC Gold and Platinum members? It is a perk for paying full price for too much RCM crap all year long. Don't dealers already get a discount? I got a bridge to sell you if you don't think they get other perks too. Only from forums like this do we even know about Platinum Plus. The RCM hides that info from the common Joe. Didn't Platinum Plus and higher just get a free exclusive coin? We know about that coin, and we know about the Platnium Plus level, how many other levels or special perks are hidden?

Quote:Really, according to the RCM web site, weren't these coins intended for MC Gold and Platinum members? Yes, the RCM web site lists "Exclusive access to select coins" as a benefit of Gold and Platinum status. It does not, however, guarantee that all members in these categories will be able to purchase one nor does it commit to anything more than 90% of each issue being available to these MC members. It is clearly spelled out. Quote: Don't dealers already get a discount? I got a bridge to sell you if you don't think they get other perks too. Of course dealers purchase their coins at a discount, how else would they make money on selling them? And yes, it is likely that high-volume dealers get additional perks. Wouldn't you want perks from a supplier if you were a high-volume reseller? While the offer is tempting, I'll pass on the bridge for now. Quote: Only from forums like this do we even know about Platinum Plus. The RCM hides that info from the common Joe. I'm not sure why not knowing every possible Masters Club level is an issue. Would knowing the various upper levels make you buy more product? Would you suddenly go from spending $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year if you knew there were higher levels? It's not uncommon for businesses to make high-volume purchase benefits known to customers only when they reach the appropriate level. Nothing sinister about what the RCM is doing, it's a simple learn-as-you-go arrangement.

It may well be that the RCM is saving the extra 200 for special events. I recall one such event at the RCM shop in Ottawa not long after the release of the second gold superman coin. The event was to showcase new coins. I seem to recall that the invitations to the event went out to MC members. They announced at the event that they had 30 of the gold superman coins available for purchase. You had the option to take a number (up to 30) as you entered the mint shop. Perhaps they are retaining those 200 for same type of events.

Wow, what is the price going to be once the last coin is released. Also where will the price ceiling be for other coins. This will be a dream coin for most at these prices. I wonder if these high prices will deter collectors from wanting the others in series, knowing the 1st coin is priced out of reach.

First has the most chances to be on top. Simply because it "first", "new"...and other factors. but I do not recall any of the set, that announced by RCM as "series", where all the coins will flow above the issue price level. Probably Niobium I series close to this or Birds. Usually, the high resell price of the last coins in the series "killed" by RCM (too many, lost of interest, design change) or by short term re-sellers, while they will try to jump on the next coins.

Quote: "like I keep saying their dealers doesn't need the other 220 units." I agree with this. My issue: Since I put all of my eggs into one basket (purchasing from the RCM), when I personally approached dealers to purchase this item - at a premium - all laughed at me. They stated that their allotments were reserved for "their" best customers. I firmly believe that: 1) All units of a Masters Club exclusive coin should be reserved for "end-user" RCM customers. 2) There should be a "firm" limit of 1 per address. 3) Future MC exclusive coins should be on a tiered offering: Prestige, Platinum, Gold, Bronze, Tin, Steel... however it goes. Each tier should have 24-hours to secure their coin before it is offered at the next level. Dealers have the ability to compete against the RCM on many, many other facets (price, long-term inventory, etc.). They do not require MC exclusive offerings as part of their arsenal.

Let say Canada post probably the RCM biggest dealer gets an allotment of 5 to 10 coins just how are they going to fairly distribute this coin, same goes for the next two largest dealer like Canadian Coin or Gatewest the latter will just sell at market price. This was a coin to reward tiered levels of mc, making 30% is not too bad on RCM products, like us nobody forces their dealers to order crappy issues. As for different levels of mc it's spelled out except for the highest level and surely those buying the kilo gold coins deserve some special form.

Quote:Master Club membership and various levels is no secret. RCM clearly spells out the terms on their website. RCM > Customer Service > Masters Club http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/custo....Vl50VHpfOrU The "basic" levels are listed on the RCM website, as mentioned above. However, there are multiple tiers of "Platinum" membership. Regardless of the "multiple levels" in each category (Platinum, Gold, Silver), I still firmly believe that the mint should stick to their statement "Find out about our monthly new coin releases XX days before general public launch" for each distinct tier. This would provide each tier with a 24-hour chance to order coins like the new Silver Dollar before they hit the general public OR the tier below. The above clearly did not happen with the new Silver Dollar, and RCM reps are being forced to do some major damage control!

Quote: I wonder if these high prices will deter collectors from wanting the others in series, knowing the 1st coin is priced out of reach Instead of a deterrence, the high price of the first coin will drive the demand of the 2nd coin sky high. Instead of selling out in a couple hours, the 2nd coin will be sold out in minutes. The first coin was a surprise hit. No one knew it would do as well as it did. Some people were sitting on the fence, slow on the trigger. After seeing the success of the first coin, there will be a mad scramble for the 2nd coin, regardless whether they like the coin or not. We saw it both with the second Superman gold and the second Venetian glass coin. When people saw the prices for the 1st in the series coins, they went crazy in trying to grab as many as they could of the 2nd coin. In Vancouver, there was a line up one block long outside the Mint Store for the bumblebee coin. The price will even go higher for the first coin when the 2nd comes out. Collectors need it to complete the series. No coin is out of reach when collectors want it badly.
