Quote: Found my 5th 1950-D nickel in my 277th box searched. Not the best example. Coin does look better in hand than in the pictures.
I find it interesting that when I started CRH'ing nickels several years ago I was under the impression that the 1950-D was going to be the hardest to find in the wild. However, during that time I found 5 examples. But during that same period I found only 1 example of the 39-D, 43-D, and 44-S. I completed my first set of nickels CRH'ing last fall and am still working on sets 2 and 3.where I need those 3 dates I mentioned. That is absolutely phenomenal! I am at 250,000 nickels (125 boxes) into my nickel hunting and still need a 1939-D and a 1943-D to complete my Jefferson set.

Without a doubt the '39-D is the toughest pull. Since I started this back in 2016, I'm at four found, and two of those were part of collection dumps. Interestingly, none of the five '50-Ds I've found was part of a collection dump. These are the only two regular circulation strike Jeffersons that I'm in the single-digits found in. As for the silvers, the '43-D is definitely king. I'm at an even dozen found, I believe, including two this year. The '44-S is a tough pull out here on the West coast (I've found a couple dozen), but it's quite challenging for most everyone else since there weren't much more of them made than the '43-Ds.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Picked up a new Loomis box this morning from the local branch. In the first 5 rolls, found a 2009-D, and a 1934-D Buffalo nickel. Hopefully a sign of good things to come! Coincidentally, this was the first Buffalo nickel I've found since October/November of last year, so was very happy to have found it. They're still out there!

Thank you! Also found a 1980-S proof nickel in the same box. Now I just need to find a War Nickel to complete the set! 25 more rolls to go.

Thank you! Well, I finished the box. I did not find a War Nickel; however, I did find 2 more 2009's, including a 2009-P, which is rare in my area. All in all, a pretty solid box, with a total of 21 pre-1960 finds, including a Buffalo nickel. A little light on the 40's nickels, with a total of only 5. I was surprised to find a total of 3 2009 nickels in a single box, though, which never happens for me. But I'll take them! Going to try to get another box from the same branch this week. Cheers!

Thanks! Found a 1936-P Buffalo nickel in a customer roll today. Surprised that it didn't get plucked out by the previous owner! This is the second Buffalo nickel I've found in a few days, after not finding any since last October/November. Maybe my luck is changing! Well, don't want to jinx it
