Thanks, jbuck and Errers and Varietys! No major finds this weekend. Just x2 1949-S nickels, plus a 1951-S nickel, both of which are semi-keys.
Running out of containers to hold my reject zinc pennies. Need to find a no-fee option for dumping them that doesn't involve rolling everything up ...

Time for an update on this thread This was a partial box of customer/bank wrapped rolls (about $76.00) and it had some really nice finds Rundown of finds: A 1999-D with a tilted die and slight MAD, A funny looking 1965 with obvious PMD around the rims, A 2016-P with a very soft strike, The oldies: A semi-key 1939-S (my first of that one ) 1940 x3, 1941x2, 1947-D 1948 P-D, 1951 x2, 1951-D, 1953-D, 1956-D, 1957-D, 1959 P-D. Better finds were that 39-S mentioned above, two War Nickels, 1943-S and 1945-P (not the DDR), two Canadian nickels of 1999 and 2000, and a 1951 Belgium franc of all coins, and a big highlight, a 191x-P Buffalo nickel in the last roll!

Last week, I basically got skunked on my $20 hunt. Today, I found nine WDDR candidates. Five are strong lines that are almost definitely in the catalog. The others are smaller lines that will probably end up in my big bag of WDDR wannabes. Also found an interesting looking die gouge, which don't happen all that often on 2006+ nickels.
The odd thing is, I'm pretty sure that I'm getting the wrapped discards from another coin roll hunter. There was nothing pre-1970 in the $20. Also, there were consistent runs of coins in the rolls, like eight 1973-1979 nickels in a row, or a roll of almost all 1994-1999. That never happens in random rolls. It happens because you're wrapping directly from sorting and checking. All the same wrappers, too.
Good thing for me the other hunter hasn't a clue about modern varieties! =)
Will post up the ones that I successfully identify.

I very distinctly remembering traveling into the San Fernando Valley a few months back and getting some CWR from a branch of my main bank where there was nothing before 1990 (if I remember correctly)... except they didn't know to remove the 2009-dated nickels. I found SEVEN 2009-Ds amongst the 1,000 coins! One CRHs trash is often another's treasure.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Wow, you scored on those 2009s! Surprised that someone could be hunting a large volume of rolls and not know to save that year. I was a little bummed to start getting discard rolls. For a long, long time I had been getting fresh MWR and random customer rolls at that CU. The year mix was good, and I had a decent hit rate for War Nickels. But I can't complain about the 2006+ line-in-door rate. Usually it's maybe 1-in-200. To find 9 in 400 is a great improvement, even if some are minor and not yet cataloged (or impossible to isolate by markers).

Finished a Loomis box of nickels yesterday (over the course of a few days). Found 2 War Nickels, and a possible well-circulated 1961 proof. I don't remember the last time I found 2 War Nickels in the same box, but I will take it! Today, I searched through 4 customer rolls, and found a high AU/low MS 1943-S War Nickel. Looks like it came out of a collection somewhere, with very little tarnish (does not look cleaned). Cheers!
