VAMs are very new to me. I pulled out a couple of my old Morgans that I've not looked at in a while, and started to do a little research. One that I am having a bit of trouble with is my 1891-CC. I think it is a VAM-2, but I am not sure. Was wondering if I might get some help with this one?

Condition-wise, probably not good enough to send off to a TPG, especially when factoring in the variety research. My guess on this is somewhere around a F15/VF20 for a grade, and would be more than happy if someone could tell me if I am even in the ballpark there. Harsh lighting is really exaggerating some of the shadows, making scratches look like gouges. Might light tent will not be here until tomorrow, unfortunately.

First, straight-up shots of the obverse and reverse. My photography setup and skills are still lacking. Pretty sure that a Sony DSC-HX300/BC is in my future. Decent price-point, good optical zoom, etc. But, I digress...

Closer detail shots, and why my best guess is a VAM-02. Starting with the lack of the die "spit".

Next the mintmark, which appears to be high. Does not appeared to be filled, nor do I see any evidence of doubling, which is why I assume that it was not a VAM-3 (along with no "spit").

Any feedback would be most appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you, very much. Looking at the VAM-8 up on VAMworld, I am inclined to agree with you. That is actually pretty neat that it is a fairly recently discovered VAM. :)
