Well, while we are waiting for those experts to help, here are a few of my thoughts:
1. It seems like the right size and weight for a denier of early (i.e. dark ages) France.
2. The cross pattee with the dots between the arms looks very French and certainly could be Lorraine. I'm especially focused on the slight invagination at the end of each arm in the cross.
3. Personally though, I find the coins of Lorraine (French) or Lothringen (German) confusing because this territory jumps back and forth over the years and so neither my French nor my German numismatic books cover the coinage from here well.
4. I cannot discern any detail of the coin from the second pic. I've tried rotating it around, but I just can't pick out any of the usual sorts of designs elements.
