There are many sides to this saga, I personally believe people have gone from collecting, like many have for decades, and others have assisted the secondary market by aiding the price gouging like " HSN MIKE "... This is America and a free Country, However, IMO, People speak out about " what a rip off" the HSN Mike guy is and " How He is personally responsible for gouging people " on that show. While I understand these views, I also believe people who buy bulk to sell for a profit, are directly " another HSN, Mike " and are hurting the hobbies standings..... Just My Opinion...... Let the coins fall where they will.......... PS, Imagine IF Everyone did that, bought up every coin available, the collecting world would suffer tremendously, don't You think.........Another prime example of money and greed, and not even thinking about any one except Your bottom line.............

Good post, morgans dad. I just got an e-mail from MCM. They have loads of this release with varying labels, priced from $159 to $349. Incredible. The greed game is a disease to this hobby. I abhor it. Luckily, I don't collect silver eagles, so this didn't directly affect me. Not to worry, though. The US Mint and their slimy, greedy flippers will strike again soon enough.

Yes it's disappointing that all the big dealers got this coin and us the collectors were shut out.I collect for enjoyment and maybe make a profit off them years down the road.Makes me mad they want to make money off collectors.I don't care to pay some over what they paid but $300 is crazy!!Household limits should have been in place!!

was looking at SEs to day on the bay and came across a 2017s slabbed that had hit around $276 bid, with like 13 bids. so I decided to look at the bidders, sure enough all that were bidding had less than 100 wins or sales.

Shut out from purchasing this coin after I was able to buy every other one over the past 21 years. I could have bought multiple of the "sets" before for profit but I'm a collector not a profiteer.

A shame the hobby We all love, the one that made us all thrilled to collect is over taken by self promotion. Imagine buying extra collectible coins and selling them back to collectors that missed out from getting one
here, on this site, for maybe a bartered service or ? I am through.....

Yep, it definitely stinks. Still haven't decided what I'm going to do on this one. I may end up splurging for the LESPS just to get one. We'll see what the prices do on ebay in a few months.

I have to wonder since the mintage is not limited to this set if, after awhile, the cost of these S-mint ASEs will not go down overall. I was surprised to see an MS69 PCGS slabbed 1998-S JFK Matte proof went on ebay for only 110.00. A few years ago when I got mine at 135.00 is was considered a great buy.

If these keep dropping I might be tempted one day to pick up another simply b/c I love the look of this coin so much.

I think I will wait a few years on the S-mint ASE and see what happens. I can be patient.

Right. I think patience is the key for getting the best price if you missed the boat the first time around. But there are always those that have to have it *right now*.

My 'backordered' order now shows as 'processing'. I hope those of you who have been waiting will get their sets soon as well...

Mine was never backordered but did show as processing for a few days. I picked up two and had other coins on my order and received it last Wednesday.

Ordered 5 at 12:01. Went to back-order status immediately. Had my cc "pinged" for the shipping and a pending transaction for the sale. My cc no longer shows a pending transaction , the "ping" has disappeared and I'm still showing back-order status on website.

Hopefully, I'm still in queue.
