Quote: But I mentioned additional three possible plans. Which one is C? Any plan that is neither A nor B. (A bad attempt to humourously acknowledge your giving multiple options.)

Assuming these dollar coins end up being made, anyone care to speculate what finish and/or size they'll end up being. I'm hoping for 1 oz silver BU but at a rate of 4 per year that can end up being kind of pricey. Just hope they don't have that token-ish feel like the Presidential dollars.

The legislation for these coins only allows for new designs. The specifications of the dollar coins is not affected, so they will be the same size and composition as the Native American and Presidential dollar coins.

That's a bummer. Just always assumed everything about this coin would be different.

I don't care what the design is at all if it is placed on the same size/composition planchet as the previous small dollars, it's still bad! P.S. Trust me, jbuck, aluminum bronze has a character that manganese brass can't replicate.

I'm happy that these will be the same small dollar size and composition as they're my favorite coins.

Those living well south of us love the dollar coins. Millions find their way to South America. Metal will outlast paper any day of the week in a wet climate.

I tried using some to pay for a taxi in Costa Rica. The driver wanted nothing to do with them. I got the impression that he thought I was trying to pull one over on him. He'd obviously never seen them before. The only US money he'd take was paper bills.

Interesting to hear they are so common in Ecuador! I know that Panama issues their own $1 coin or a Balboa, but I'm not sure how common US $1 coins are there. But it worth to note here that Costa Rica does not use the US dollar but their own Colón and as such I don't think they're accustomed to US coins, but only the hard currency that is dollar notes. I wonder, will these new $1 coins make it to actual circulation outside the US and how would they be perceived among older coins?
