OOOOOO, they have to be selected. Hmm, not sure I can compete. These above coins look very nice.
Futhermore, I don't have a digi camera to take and post a pic. :(

Hi Jason..I would not be dishearten, you never know, it is the members here who makes the final selection if there is more than one offering in each category.

Can this be any type of coin? Dollar value to it or not?

I would not worry about grade, value or appeal of the coin being donated. Some people will vote for proof coins, others like me will vote for what you find in change!!!!

Time to bump this thread back to the top. This is a very worthwhile project that can span the globe so lets keep it up front and active! We are close but NOT there yet!

I have had several coins sitting out for the last several days, considering which to put out for forum approval for the perpetual giveaway,, I have finally decided !!! This coin although not High grade (AU) I believe is important in a couple of different ways, It is the only time that precious metal was used in its production, it is also the first time that the P mint appeared on a coin, and the location and size has never been repeated !! This coin also has very much a world wide Historical interest due to the war which saw its design and metal content to become necessisary . So Here is my offering !! 1942-P Silver War Nickel !! Absolutely !!
everyone also needs to know that there is no competition here for the most valuble dollar wise coin, nor the most beatiful,, these coins should reflect the true nature of coin collecting, IMHO any way, that of the historical significance of particular coins from around the world !!
Just My Opinion !!

We should set a date to vote on the coins to fill this "Official CC Set". I would suggest Jan. 7th and 8th or Jan. 14th and 15th? At that point all the coins selected would be sent to ND for mounting in the Capital Plastics holder! All in favor say "AYE" and of course which dates for the vote? I would like a few days for more donations to be posted so we can have more to choose from! What do you think guys/gals?

Either date is fine by me. However it must be taken into consideration it takes time for accepted donations from international members to reach ND.

Only a few more days to offer up a donation for this outstanding traveling set. I don't know what will be more fun, getting to admire this set for a few weeks or keeping track of the miles it will be racking up!!! This will really be something to look forward to and participate in but I would like to see some more coins offered before we vote on a coin from each continent? Bigfella will be back from vacation soon, Rggoodie has started the vote poll and ND will accept the responsibility to get the coins placed in a Captial Plastics holder and I will, if needed build a custom case to protect the set on display and during shipping. Its all up to you guys/gals when we vote and what we will include in this very unique traveling set!

For the most part, once this set is sealed, it will remain the same while it travels the world visiting CC members. Someday the coins will return, be sent back to their respective homes and a new set will set off on another world journey but that will probably be a few years down the road! Don't worry kidcollector you will get your chance someday!
