Hope you're right. That 1875 looks troublesome to me.

I'll just stick that in the tube I have that's about 1/3rd full of Seated dimes. I'll probably sell them as a lot. Its hard to tell from digital scans, but I'll bet these coins look much better in the flesh. I'll take pics when they get here. The seller had no other coins ... I looked to see what else they were selling.

I agree. We will take what we can get.

I've been keeping an eye out for that 18-D FB that he needs. There's a nice 1918-D on right now, but not FB. Why would somebody, a dealer no less, list a nice Mercury dime along with a Liberty nickel ... and list it in Liberty nickels? Nobody likes nickels...

Lots of replies to a recent post ... shows respect (I agree) for your efforts and collective interest in the pursuit for which you have so kindly shared.

I concur on both accounts.

If I read justcarl right ... his dimes don't live with him. It would be nice to see them all, but the task of photographing them is not a small one.

And what makes it worse is if I do go to the bank and get them, I have to bring all 4 sets back with me. I put two sets in one Whitman Album binder so there are almost 2 full sets of all FSB Merc's in one binder. Would have to take them apart to photo them all. Will do someday.

It's the 18S I need.

I figured out how to offset the expenditure for the 3 type dimes...

I put together a set of 5 US Dime type coins that I'm looking to sell for the same price I paid for the 3 coins. I'll have selling expenses out of that, but the 5 coins I'm selling ... due to being in the right place at the right time, didn't cost me 20 dollars. I figure in the end, I can sell off the barber and the seated, and keep an AU 1836 Bust dime for my trouble.

Its enroute from Georgia and should arrive on Friday if you believe the USPS ... but they're usually pretty accurate.

I'll post pics when the coins actually arrive.

Here's a crappy scan of the bust dime. It will be in much nicer condition "in hand" than these scans lead you to believe. Been there ... Done that. Great coins from crappy pics has been something I'm usually pretty good at. Not always, but I've seen enough to "usually" be right.

The variety is JR-2. You can see, despite the crappy scan, the die break through the date, across the clasp, and coming out of the crown of Liberty's "Cap". That die crack completely bisects the obverse.

My feeble mind ... My 5 type dime collection is 15 dollars less than I paid for the 3 pc collection. The pain from this hernia is really wearin' on me. It consumes much of my thought process ... gonna go get horizontal.

Its all inter-related .. For my next trick ... watch me turn a bust dime that I'll have very little invested in ... into a BU 1919-S merc. The journey is the same ... but sometimes a couple miles of the road looks unfamiliar.

More "on topic", I listed nearly all of my remaining "extra" AU and BU mercs last night. Tonight its Barber dime time.

Right, but agree the thread is getting scrambled and difficult to follow.
