Help Identifying This Hammered Edward Penny!

JDRMCB Pillar of the Community United States 616 Posts	Posted 11/16/2017 12:15 pm Upon researching this Edward penny, I was dumbfounded when I discovered how many types, subtypes along with the multiple varieties that can be found within each class. I was hoping I could find a fellow member that had a better understanding of this coin type and could help me narrow it down or point me in the right direction. Coopertron5000 Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 516 Posts	Posted 11/16/2017 5:52 pm I believe it to be Edward I, Class 9b1, London Mint, c.1299-1301. I'm happy to stand corrected as I'm more focused on the voided long cross series. Obverse legend EDW R ANGL DNS HyB narrows down to class 1-9. The combination of unbarred A, unbarred N and cross pattee narrows down the 8-9. I think that's a scruffy star at the collar, although cant be sure on that. I think the crown matchs closer to 9a2-9b1, the differentiation here being the style of S - although mostly of the flan, I think this is a non composite S rather than top tilted.
