Love that gold. I'm becoming more interested in the gold as opposed to the silver and clad. With the mintage on most being relatively small and few of them more than 150% of spot, they seem like a beautiful modern series to pursue.

I'm no fan of that National Park Service $1 coin for sure. Looks like an A-bomb explosion on the obverse. What is that thing, anyway?

My guess is Old Faithful. At first I thought an A-bomg also, then a tree, but I've settled on the geyser Old Faithful.

Great design but has not survived well in storage.

Even though the commission preferred the fat calf over a shoreline scene (that I'm sure was much more attractive), I do like the New Rochelle, as it's a bit quirky (like all Commems should be!) in it's dating and distribution. Rob and Laura would be proud!

Two beautiful New Rochelle already! This is one of the easiest CSC to find with true "blast white" luster. I actually like the obverse very much, as it's certainly deserves a designation of "odd child" in my opinion. NOTE: The little scratches at the center of the calf are on the holder, not the coin. Here mine:

Wow ... outstanding eye appeal toned coin Worn Out. Quote: This is one of the easiest CSC to find with true "blast white" luster. Concur ... and there are as well 50 or so SP examples with proof like surfaces ... which makes Worn Out lovely toned example different and absolutely appealing. Concur that this coin is one of my many favorites in the classic silver set ... Gertrude Lathrop rather funky design simply resonates across the years ... she of the 1936 Albany half dollar where the obverse beaver was modeled from a live animal kept in her studio. To the circulated example ... this is a very difficult and challenging coin to find. I labeled it stopper #6 in my long running thread on honestly circulated classic silver commemorative ... and I've only come across this single example in my 10 years of searching: 1938 New Rochelle (NY) Sesquicentennial Half Dollar - PCGS XF45 Enjoy
