A 2007 Great Britain pound coin (fake) showing the Millennium Bridge that links Newcastle and Gateshead across the River Tyne: Here is the actual bridge (the coin shows the bridge in the raised position to let ships through: it was closed when I took the photo):

The Pantheon in Paris on a silver 1983 100-franc coin: A distant view of the actual building: The Pantheon is not a church, but a building where great French people are buried. It is the final resting place of the mortal remains of many who have appeared on French banknotes and commemorative coins, including Gambetta, Voltaire, Jean Moulin, Victor Hugo and Emile Zola. I'm not aware of any coin designers buried there, but there is a bronze memorial plaque to President Sadi Carnot inside, which was engraved by Oscar Roty, who was responsible for the famous 'Sower' design that has appeared on numerous French coins since 1898.

Bendery fortress on a 2014 1 ruble coin from Transnistria, also called Transdniestr, a self-declared independent republic wedged between Moldova and Ukraine. It has been issuing its own coins since it broke away from Moldova in a civil war in the early 1990s. Just as interesting as the fort is the country's coat of arms. I can't think of any other place that still uses the hammer and sickle on its coins ... maybe someone can correct me on that. Bendery fortress is a 16th century Ottoman Turkish castle next to the Dniestr River, a stone's throw from the (unofficial) Moldova-Transnistria border:
