A while back some one posted the middle part of a bimetal coin in the identification section. If I remember correctly it didn't appear too damaged.

The ring of such a coin has a "recess" line, and the pill has a raised line around its edge; this way the two parts do not fall apart. But of course a hammer and a screwdriver will do wonders. The tricky part is to get the pill back in ... usually that won't work without damaging the piece pretty badly.
