I agree with the Walking Liberty coin being one of the nicest. Again, I am pretty disappointed with the mint's new coinage.

I think the new dollar coins are AWFUL. They are the ugliest coins I have. The best would be a walking liberty or the Sacagawea. I think the "sac" is the finest coin the mint has produced in some time. Out of the 50 State Quarters i'll take WISCONSIN! I like the design and wish I owned a few error coins :)

SBA dollars. They look like Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies.

Most of our modern coins lack the artistry of Weinman or Saint-Gaudens. I think that our mint is rushing to develop pseudo-euro currency that the young collectors will identify with. It's a shame, in my opinion, that modern art seldom reflects the old master's technique. I would rater see coins in an Art-Nouveau style be for putting out something like the last Jefferson series. What is truly amazing is that the younger generation want more vivid and life-like images on their video games than on their coins.

My opinion is that:
Most Fav. : Morgan dollars, Mercury dimes..
Least Fav : Presidential dollars, like most people... and Roosevelt dimes.

My least favorites would have to be the SBA's, Every one of the State Quarters, the new Jefferson nickels, and the Roosevelt dime.

This thread should have been a poll! It would have been interesting to see the results. My general impression is that the more modern coins are deemed more ugly overall.

I would have said the SBA, but so have many others so I'll leave that alone. What about Buffalo nickels? From a design standpoint the way the dates degrade is very painful for me. At least nobody needs nick-a-date for the SBAs!
